36 years old, 13 goals in the past five years, last 9 of which were in the Jupiler Pro League.

I'd want to see him at work before I'd be tempted.

Really !!....45 games / 5 goals last season playing for Club Brugge who came 3rd last season in the same league as Anderlecht - who recently drew 3-3 with Arsenal at the Emirates in the 'Champions League'

You think that's at a lower level than the championship ?

He'd piss this league even at 36, an absolute legend and a very intelligent, quality player....I'd even say that he'd probably get us into the play off's should NL manage to sign him for the rest of the season - would be a fantastic signing for us if we can afford it.

Like I said, I'd want to see him at work before I'd be tempted.

He's been a great player, but blind faith gets you signings like Beckford and we all know where that leads.

Your comparing Eidur to Beckford ?....when was the last time Beckford played for Barcelona, Monaco & Chelsea ?....if we were in the prem then I'd possibly have a similar mind set to yours, but we are playing in the championship against mainly average / poor sides.

Providing we could afford his wages, would you take Eidur on a short term contract until the end of the season Yes or No....I most certainly would.

I can't imagine Beckford 'champing at the bit' to play again at 36. It's not that old anyway, I'm 39 and a magnificent physical specimen.
Looks like Lennon is having an extended look at him anyway.

and I trust Lennon to make the right call - he's not hampered by sentiment as he has had no history with Eidur at the club and doesn't appear to be rushing to decision - all of which (I think) is a good thing. If Lennon thinks that Eidur can still do the business then I'll be happy with his decision - if Lennon decides not, I'll not be berating him for looking a gift horse in the mouth...

Most on here would probably snatch his hand off if Giggs offered to come and play for us now and he,s a touch older, form is temporary,Class permanent as we all know.Eidur will undoubtedly be slower than he once was but I reckon he,d still be better than a lot in this League!!

perhaps - but, then Giggs was playing champions league in 2012 and is legendarily fitter than a butcher's dog!

I just don't know if Eidur is! is he fit - do you know he is?

class may be permanent (whatever that means) - but I'd not be inviting Campo or Hierro to come back and help us out now...

I,m going to place my faith in Neil Lennon making the correct decision as to whether he plays again for us.Lennon is hopefully watching him train on a almost daily basis. And if? in his wisened opinion he decides that Eidur can do a effective job for us,He,ll do for me!

Djorkaeff was fairly useful in the premier league aged about 36.

Players decline at different rates, so we'll have to see whether he could hang on the training pitch. Let's hope he can, will be great for the fans to welcome back a legend.

I would also hope Eidur is,nt using us as a vehicle to try and gain 1 last hurrah for Iceland? Unfinished business with his international squad and all that..I,d be interested to learn just how he ended up back here.Maybe me being a bit cynical but he surely won,t need any money! So salary hopefully does,nt really interest him now. :conf:
