Don't try to be a great man. Just be a man and let history make up its own mind.

Must be the day of our new signing.
I see the Norwich manager has resigned, could scupper Hooper coming in.

They've just promoted Mike Phelan, depends if he rates him I suppose, could go either way. I can't see any manager in this league wanting rid of a proven goalscorer like that though, unless he makes it clear he really wants to play for us/Lennon. Even then I bet he's on a fair whack having just come out of the Premier League. I'd rate it barely more likely than Rhodes last season!jaffka wrote:Must be the day of our new signing.

Edit, Phelan's just caretaker, thought he had the job.

Big Tom's returned from Yeovil, so that's today's signing taken care of then.

May the bridges I burn light your way

The LionofVienna site saying it was Matthew Lowton from Aston Villa who we were after on Monday. The Oracle mentioned a 25 year utility player / right back who might be released from his contract at a Premier League club. Lowton fits the bill although he cost Aston Villa £3m in 2012. There is now a suggestion that we he could be a loan option.

A week today, Eaves turns 23 - so while he's not quite 25, he'd certainly count as one of the three outfield over-agers allowed to play in each XI representing the reserves/development team. We've also got a fair few other fledgling forwards who might be afore him in the queue. That said, it's not like we've got hundreds of first-team strikers, and he'd like to think he's a target man...
As for Lowton, he'd be the latest in a surprisingly long line of incoming defensive Villans. Hopefully he'd be more of a Cahill (or maybe a Warnock or Hutton) than a Knight (or Herd or JLS).

just like several new players... errr....

Vice captain Matt Mills has been cleared to return after a minor ankle ligament problem and should be fit to face Leeds United this weekend.
Rob Hall has also been boosted with the news his ankle problem will not keep him on the sidelines for an extended spell.
meanwhile...Kevin McNaughton also made his return from a hamstring injury in the development squad’s 3-0 win over Blackburn Rovers and could now press for a recall to the first team after coming through 90 minutes unscathed.
Oxford United expect to be told today whether they will be allowed to re-sign full-back Joe Riley.
Michael Appleton is keen to capture the 23-year-old, who was a massive hit for the Us in his 28 appearances since August, and would ideally like to keep him until the end of the season.
It is understood two other clubs have also enquired about the Academy graduate, who returned to the North West at the weekend to discuss his future.
Having proved his fitness at the Kassam Stadium, Riley could be a specialist option on the right side of defence, where Josh Vela has provided ample cover in the last couple of months.
