Great effort from the lads. Not sure what trotter offers. Can't pass. Can't Mark. Can't tackle.

Exactly. Could those youngsters on the bench seriously not offer any more than that??jetsetwilly wrote:Great effort from the lads. Not sure what trotter offers. Can't pass. Can't Mark. Can't tackle.

To blame the second entirely on Trotter is ignorant. That whole passing sequenced showed how much better the Liverpool midfield are technically, we were always 1 step behind.midlands exile wrote:Two goals cost us the game - both totally down to Trotter's inability to cover his man.Vertigo wrote:A number of things cost us that game. Re: Ding dong do.....Round 2
To say Sterling scored a "wonderful goal" is totally in keeping with the sort of unmitigated bullshit that hangs off Liverpool like Mersey seaweed. He scuffed it at Lonergan and it went straight through his legs. Very tough, because Lonergan made a couple of top-class saves. Okay, we lost, in extra time again, but ( Trotter apart) a valiant defensive performance, with ten men, Wheater an absolute rock and Dervite with the tackle of the month. Eidur scored a cool penalty but missed a real headed chance and a six nations ariel wallop. Despite all, really proud of the lads; a makeshift eleven, that became ten, with a squad value of nineteen shillings and eleven pence, almost saw off Stevie Me's millionaires club. Well done lads and we lost nothing.

And the thing is, we can't ship him to Forest back to the prick that brought him in.jetsetwilly wrote:Great effort from the lads. Not sure what trotter offers. Can't pass. Can't Mark. Can't tackle.

Re: Ding dong do.....Round 28
Mrs Clown pronounced that both goals were down to "that substitute".
Anyway, really, really proud of that effort and the difference came from having 10 men. Excellent effort and spirit. Very impressed by Vela and Clough.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Standing off and gawping, while allowing a top player to pick his spot pretty much equates to blame in my book. Not the first time I've seen Trotter playing and he's cost us a goal with his lack of attention.Vertigo wrote:To blame the second entirely on Trotter is ignorant. MOTM for me. I saw him put his face in the way of few absolute rockets – the sort of shots other people duck. No wonder he looks the way he does!Little Green Man wrote:Wheater was bloody immense.
I thought Mills did great up front, too!
Gudjohnson – he's missing too many chances.
Feeney was great.
Vela and Clough did really well.
Proud. Would have loved to have seen Gerrard cry though.
Re: Ding dong do.....Round 2
I can't agree with the comments Vertigo. The team were coping well enough to keep them at bay. Individuals that don't keep this up break down the cohesive unit and cracks appear. He's allowed Stirling to get goal side as he was rooted. The second goal is a great strike but a deflection would have seen it onto the bar, no closing down it goes in. How many times did Wheater, Dervite, Ream or any of the others throw themselves at the ball to ensure it didn't go towards goal? Turning your back and hoping for the best isn't good enough.

If Trotter ever takes to the pitch again I'm convinced Lennon's fcuking lost the plot!
No vision, no speed, no judgement, just what is he doing in the stadium never mind on the pitch?

Might be something to do with six players ineligible and five or six injured Hoboh. Might be?Hoboh wrote:If Trotter ever takes to the pitch again I'm convinced Lennon's fcuking lost the plot!

Six other players on the bench. Even Fitzsimmons would have been a better choice!TANGODANCER wrote:Might be something to do with six players ineligible and five or six injured Hoboh. Might be?Hoboh wrote:If Trotter ever takes to the pitch again I'm convinced Lennon's fcuking lost the plot!

Almost a year ago to the day, in the Millwall Away thread, I first said this of Trotter on the back of his debut earlier that week against Burnley;

A full year on and my opinion hasn't changed one iota!Me wrote:Good. It was like having a wardrobe on casters in the middle of the park, Tuesday neet.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Trotter isn't allowed. No bad thing

Really proud of my team. Really proud of the effort. If anyone thinks Trotter is to blame for the defeat, you should get yer head looked at.

You should get the Liverpool goals looked at. Team played brilliantly with 11 men, they played well with 10 men, but the struggle kicked in with 9 men (following that sub).Il Pirate wrote:Really proud of my team. Really proud of the effort. Re: Ding dong do.....Round 2
A damn fine effort. Interesting decision to play Mills up front, which sort of worked out, but we should have enough in the squad not to repeat it. Cobbled-together side played the system well. At 1-0 a Palace mate texted me but I said we might regret that missed Eidur header and sadly so it proved. Danns' challenge for the second yellow was daft for an experienced player and that left us up against it, but I think two goals would have been enough of a cushion. I think Eidur knew it too, because he rapidly faded thereafter - they were walking past him by the end - and I was desperate enough to wonder if we'd've been better bringing on Hall to break at pace: once Clough went off and Eidur slowed up, we couldn't get out of our third.
Obvious pantomime villain is Trotter, even if for Sterling's I'm not sure how we managed to have three centre-halves (excluding Mills) nowhere near the inside-left channel. I'm beginning to worry that Trotter might not make it, y'know. It'll be interesting to see how far down the pecking order he drops now we've got extra bodies in the squad.
And interesting altogether to see how we line up for three fascinating games in eight days: Derby away Saturday, then home to Fulham and Watford next week. Feelgood factor should remain, hopefully, unless we get a dicking at Derby. At least the ALF/Clough partnership should be fresh for Pride Park, but I wonder whether we'll see changes in midfield – Feeney, Danns and Vela surely can't keep playing every game.
Well done Wanderers. Now let's see if we can climb that table.
