I don't care how we win at the moment as long as we win! Wins breeds confidence and we sure need that away from home. Onward and upwards. Hey guys we are in second!!! Not that I'm getting giddy or owt! :)

Keep grinding out the wins. Only way we will get anywhere.

You shouldn't watch ITV. Nothing good will come from it.

Cracking day out!

No sign of Enoch and co.

On train - standing room only so typing not easy - suffice to say it was a joy to hear fans calling us dirty northern bastards again! :-)

Walking around the Kingsmeadow before kick-off it was clear that AFC Wimbledon have outgrown their home. Arriving into the ground the pitch was perfect as you'd expect for their first home league game, the sun was out as we took our place in the away end, on the half way line, the dugouts in touching distance and four scaffolding supports slightly spoiling our view. We watched the midfield and strikers shoot layoffs from 12 yards producing a combination of the good, the bad and the ugly. On the other side of the pitch it was good to see the back four doing drills together with one of the coaches.

The players came out and the subs and coaches took their places in front of us, Parky and the back room staff acknowledging the Bolton faithful in the London sun.

4-1-2-1-2 diamond was how we set up with Spearing in front of the back four and Davies behind Proctor and Madine.

Wimbledon started the brightest with a good turn and shot in the box which was well saved by Howard and cleared to safety. It was a dominant start by the Dons, the Bolton midfielder non existent and not supporting Proctor and Madine well enough. The goal came from a well taken finish from a through ball down our right hand side and you couldn't help think "here we go...". But we responded well, slowly grew back into the game and started to keep possession in the Wimbledon half. Creativity, pace and width were clearly lacking. Vela just didn't look interested and several times he walked past me without and determination in his body language or a bead of sweat on his brow - he was poor in possession and shocking in the air. The goal came from M.Davies picking up the ball on the left and passing to Madine on the endless of the box, he pulled the trigger and it somehow trickled over the line with goalkeeper wrong footed, there was a slight pause in disbelief before the Bolton fans breathed a sigh of relief and broke into tune "GARY MADINE, WASHING MACHINE, GARY MADINE, WASHING MACHINE".
Just before half time a one of many free kicks given away by Spearing nearly resulted in a goal. 20 yards out the whole ground were expecting a shot but instead a clever ball to the striker who peeled away at the back post should have been tucked away if his touch would have been better. 1-1 HT.

The difference in class between the two teams really started to show in the second half. Beavers and Wheater could defend with their backs to goal all afternoon. The Wimbledon number 9 made Madine look good. I don't think any of the Wimbledon players would get in our starting XI. Bolton had plenty of attempts from Proctor, Spearing and Trotter but nothing that troubled their keeper. The first real chance of the second half came when a layoff from a free kick was shot low through a crowd of bodies and was saved low and hard in front of Howard. Clough for Davies was the right sub at the right time. Clough looked stronger and wasn't getting knocked off the ball when breaking free and running with the ball - I'll be amazed if iphe is still with us come September. His introduction really helped link attack and midfield. Shortly after Cloughs arrival a break down the right and a low cross from Proctor was missed at the front post by Clough before being tapped in by Trotter at the back stick. The crowd broke into song once more "YAYA YAYA, YAYA YAYA, YAYA TROTTER" (that's a difficult chant to type). The last ten minutes brought the inevitable push from the home side for an equaliser. Spearing and Moxey doing their best to gift them an opening but we held out for a much deserved win. Proctor and Madine, as similar as they are may actually work. They both worked themselves into the ground and played well with the ball when they were in possession. In the dying embers Madine was back tackling one minute and holding it up in the oppositions corner the next- I think this is his level.

Wheater was MOTM for me, he put his head into everything and looked a class above - organising and marshalling our new back 5. A great 3 points against a tea, which will struggle - they were poor but we can only beat what's in front of us. The team and staff celebrated in front of the fans afterwards and slowly but surely a feel good factor is slowly starting to come back. On today's showing we are going to be a very tough team to beat this season. Well done Parky and the lads!

Our first goal - fairly fortunate deflection off mavis from an attempted clearance.. last 20mins they threw all they hadcat us - some scrambling and a yellow for mavis for a handball on the floor near the edge of the box - but we held out and didn't "leave much on the pitch"

No Enoch today, but DSB & I were in the club bar before and after the game. Shame we couldn't meet up. Bumped into some wanderers on the way back into London - top #bantz. Everyone is a bit giddy. :pissed:

Tried the club bar - from about 2-ish - must have missed you! How civilised - a bar with a taped off queueing system!

Absolute cracking day out!

Must have been a different bar: no taped off queuing in ours. But, I managed to spill not one, but two drinks on DSB and his mate (soz, guys!).

We stayed for the MotM award; the compere was very complimentary about the wanderers and they all wished us well for the season. Proper football camaraderie, miles better than that premiershite stuff.

My first win in almost three years. What a feeling!

The mate was Keeeebaaab, formerly of this parish. Sorry to miss you, Bish. Maybe midweek...

I'll write more later but that was a really rather good feeling. (The win, not the intermittent showers of Tony's Kroney.)

PP, BN:
I thought it was an excellent performance after a difficult start for us. The pitch is a bit thick, it’s very tight, and teams play a certain way on it. But I didn’t want people saying the pitch was this or that, or their style was a bit direct, and we didn’t do that.

We had a meeting in the hotel last night to go through the requirements we felt were needed to win this game. Then we asked the players what they felt we needed to do to win an away game – and one of the things they said was ‘no excuses’.

We needed everyone to stand up and be counted. And you could feel the relief once the final whistle sounded through all the supporters and the players.

Football is about doing whatever it takes to win. The top managers like Jose Mourinho find a way to win the game. Since I came in the character of the lads has been excellent.

We came here today and it was a party atmosphere. It was their first game at this level and you could feel the expectancy in the air. It became a big club v little club scenario. That could have gone against us and we certainly started poorly. That was the only period of the game I was disappointed about because after that we were in control of the game.

There’s no better feeling than winning a game but there are certainly things we can get better at. There were bits of organisation, at times we were a little bit slack, and they have got to be improved.

In terms of the work-rate, after a tough game on Tuesday, every player and member of staff on that coach played their part.

Parkinson proved his worth with that win. He's not going to turn this lot around in a couple of months but his signings on the whole so far, look pretty good. Beevers and Wheater look good together. Proctor worked his socks off and today I really liked the look of Buxton. Midfield still looks weak but he's not afraid to use his subs and change things around, where other managers may have settled for a point.

We'll still lose plenty of games this season I reckon and I certainly don't see us going up but the early signs of change from the last few years are encouraging.
