Bolton 2 Blackpool plus ref and liners 1. A positive at last.

Dion is finished as he was unless they change the rules on man-handling and clothes dragging. Foul after foul, that (according to the rules of footnball) should be punished are being ignored. Charles's reputation as a goal scorer was built on foootball, not all-in wrestling. Blackpool (and others in this League are) just cloggers that we made look good by our poor golf-course defending. That's about it. Evatt, well, Que Sera... :conf:

Charles goes down too easily and ref went against him as a result, that’s the game he plays.

He's not your actual "Big-Lad" striker and always marked by one. The game has changed so much it's more like Rugby than Football. That said, our weakness is in defence more than attack. We need Dempsey and Toal back and we already have more cards than Bart Maverick. We're getting defence lessons from Sunday Leaguers. ae:)

Better 2nd half spurred on by the desire of the Captain who scored a great goal. 3 pts! Thomasson and Schon were the best players for us today.
Exactly this. Said half time if we tried we could only improve. We tried. Thomason destroyed himself. Schon was excellent.

Haha
I’m not changing my mind today, no manager should survive the result before. But I’ll enjoy a 94th minute winner thank you!

Yeah. I'll settle for "carry in unpacking," tbf.

I didn't realize it was an early start. It is actually quite relaxing to sign in and find we won. Makes a change.

I agree, he's going to get us over the line in a few games.

Football is clearly a game of two halves. That second half was guts and determination, bled out from our young captain.

Bravo sir.

Thomason is as I’ve said before maybe the only one in this group who genuinely deserves to pull a Bolton wanderers shirt on. If only others showed his desire and hunger. If only. He’s streets and I mean this streets above the rest of our midfield and it will never be close because it’s all about attitude.

Schon to be fair matched that energy today at least.

Proper captains performance from George.

Agree on Schon in the 2nd half. Thought Tutu looked lively when he came on too.

Feels like us papering over the cracks but don't want to think about it too much. Just trying to enjoy the 3 points.

Night and day between him and JDC in the sense of attacking.

Aye. I've been supportive of JDC in the past but he's looking like a shadow of the player he was last season.

At half time I had slipped all the way over the line into "Evatt Out". A midfield two that was totally isolated, wing backs that weren't in the game, a front three that might as well have been playing in different dimensions for all the communication and link up they had. Two of those front three were supposed to be dropping back and helping in midfield. There were vast chasms between the front three and midfield, which we inexplicably kept punting the ball into - when we weren't blasting it over Dion's head. The ref was poor, yes, but my God. We were awful.

But credit where it's due, there were tweaks in the 2nd half. McAtee dropped deeper helping to shore up the midfield. Schon got more involved - he's a great little player. And Thomason was supreme - he'd evidently decided to just sort things out himself. Captain's performance in that 2nd half. We deserved to win on the balance of play and chances created.

Having said that - it's still Evatt's fault that we were so poor in the 1st half. He will eventually attain that "forgiveness" that he wants if we keep winning, but performances like that 1st 45 make it more difficult for us to win.

Greetings from California, where I awoke at 6.30am and had still missed the match.

Glad we won - and won a derby, which doesn’t happen often (although it did vs these men last year). Also glad we came from behind - winning 2-1 in injury time from a halftime deficit should be a big boost. I’m still unsure that it will turn our season round but this is the ongoing task for Evatt - he has to win a lot more than he loses.

That's our first 3 points from a losing position this season, according to Bolton FM sports.

That was the worst 1st half that I can ever remember at the Reebok it was dire, at HT I personally thought that if we had lost Evatt was gone it was that bad. 2nd half we moved the ball quicker, played with more tempo & intensity - why can we only play for 45 mins, its been an issue every season under Evatt we only play in one half of a game - why can't this be addressed ?, the players attitude in the 1st half was shocking, everything was so slow.

2nd half was so much better, we cut them open time after time and moved the ball much quicker - the players got involved, great strike from Thomason, who turned the game on his own - I don't rate him as a footballer, he wasted so many passes in the 1st half - but his character and desire was unquestionable, what a goal and he literally ran himself into the ground a proper captain's performance.

I still have no idea why Charles's goal was disallowed, but walking around the ground to the car (yes I left on 92mins) & hearing the cheers etc was fantastic - when we play like we did 2nd half we are decent to watch, but we are so poor when we play like we did in the 1st half. Honest question - why can't the manager get the players to play with the same tempo & intensity for 90 mins as we did 2nd half.
