I'm not saying we shouldn't get rid of McAtee if we can get a decent fee, but the squad would be desparately short of goals with both him and Collins gone, and Vic out for a while.
History tells us that it's usually difficult and expensive to find goalscorers, and we'd need to find a couple.

Yeah we'd be wanting an Ennis or similar "strong possibility of goal" striker to add to Dalby's promise.The_Gun wrote: ↑Fri Jun 20, 2025 1:32 pmI'm not saying we shouldn't get rid of McAtee if we can get a decent fee, but the squad would be desparately short of goals with both him and Collins gone, and Vic out for a while.

Just had a watch of this.
Looks like a decent player, and someone who would improve our team. Wouldn't want to be spending a million on him, mind, and I doubt Championship clubs will be knocking Salford's door down due to his size and lack of blistering speed.

A decent Boro account has said they have no interest. I wouldn't say he's slow and he certainly works hard, but yeah his size may hinder his efforts to climb the league.
If he were to come to us, it seems he'd be found quite accurately by Teddy boy.

Interesting that this is a strength. It adds to the notion that we'll be looking to really hit teams on the break - as soon as TSL catches the ball, our jet-heeled wingers look to stretch the game and get at the bastards, knowing their mate in goal is likelier than most to find them. Fine by me.
(We're assured save ratios are nonsense so we can ignore that bit

Schumacher interview up on the youtubes. Seemed quite definitive that there will be more signings next week.

But didn't the interviewer also say "four signings this week"?KeyserSoze wrote: ↑Fri Jun 20, 2025 6:20 pmSchumacher interview up on the youtubes. Seemed quite definitive that there will be more signings next week.
Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread
I'd expect 4-5 more. Not necessarily next week, like.

In another thread,
• The Bolton manager who sold Dion has gone.
• The Bolton sporting director who sold Dion has gone.
• The Huddersfield manager who bought Dion has gone.
• The Huddersfield sporting director who bought Dion has gone.
If (and it's an if, not a rumour) Dion was available to buy, how much would you pay for him?
Here's a thing - four, actually - while I'm bored.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 9:22 amWhen we talk about losing goal scorers. We did just that. Lost Dion replaced him with a can't be arsed and got much worse as Collins press was approsching zero. Funny innit, how we were top of L1 when Collins signed and got worse from there. Gimmie Dion every day of the week.

I genuinely wouldn’t take Dion back on a free.

The sun is out, we have coffee in the back garden, everything is fine with the world. No, I wouldn't go back to Dion, either. The notion that somehow Collins might have been any sort of upgrade, doesn't sit well and he certainly wasn't additive to Dion. I took DSB's "thought experiment" a bit further and looked at all our +10 League scorers, since we upped from L2.
I'm not spotting much other than "backwards" with Collins and McAtee as our 2 leading scorers and to be fair I reckon both Kacha and Dion were better at pressing than either. So we were worse off and lost a decent press.
I'm not surprised the Manager and Sporting director went after pairing up them two.

Agree with this. Easy to be blinded by the odd good goal or bit of skill. The stats speak for themselves.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 10:31 amThe sun is out, we have coffee in the back garden, everything is fine with the world. It's a similar situation to McAtee; below a certain amount there would be no net expenseDave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 9:58 amIn another thread,Here's a thing - four, actually - while I'm bored.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 9:22 amWhen we talk about losing goal scorers. That said, there would be no resale value for what would be a cash purchase. So highly unlikely.

I’d take Dion back to work alongside Dalby. On the shoulder press and a target man would suit me. As for how much I’d pay… I’d feel pressured not to offer much as we’d be ‘going backwards’. Not happening anyway.

If the rumours surrounding Dion's exit have even a smidgeon of truth about them ( The woman he got pregnant allegedly now being in a relationship with Aunty Sharon's son) then there's no chance he's coming anywhere near us again. Huddersfield fans would see him gone in a heartbeat and I wouldn't be surprised to see him fetch up at MKD.........unless they've seen the stats above.........

As I say, it's a theoretical question...Bijou Bob wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 11:35 amIf the rumours surrounding Dion's exit have even a smidgeon of truth about them ( The woman he got pregnant allegedly now being in a relationship with Aunty Sharon's son) then there's no chance he's coming anywhere near us again.
