Perhaps OC will get a job soon and come in for him

I'm sure many of you would have seen this, but I thought a decent article worth sharing.

Of course it won't appeal to everyone!

Shape and work rate is all we need at the minute. (Shape is the lion's share of tactics surely?)
Don't think they're ready for a tactical onslaught at the minute. Get them playing well and feeling confident before attempting chess.

I'm really happy with Freedman so far. The first thing you do with a sinking ship is stop it sinking. I reckon he's made us far more organised - heck, he's even got us a clean sheet or two. Next step is to start winning.
Granted, on the podcast we said our choice would have been Mick McCarthy, but I'm more than happy with the turnaround under Dougie. Don't think anyone's ever made the playoffs after such a poor start, but a few decent results on the bounce and it wouldn't be out of the question.

I think after 15 games, Reading were on the same points as what we were this season. They won the league! I don't think the play-offs are anywhere near beyond us, but 7 points from the next 3 games (9 should be expected, nowt wrong with that) and we're well in the mixer for the new year.

I think you mean the 2013 calendar. This is for next year not the one about to end.Tals-biggest-fan wrote:

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager
I want to hear his post match comments after that debarcle today - if he defends the players yet again then I've absolutely no faith in him. I want him to come out and be honest that the attitude is deep rooted and that he needs to make some serious changes asap if he did I would give him time.
I'm just sick and tired of managers defending these so called 'Bolton' players who don't give two fcuks about Bolton Wanderers. I would really respect Freedman if he came out and said that we need a major clear out and that he's inherited a complete squad of overpaid wasters. We are never going to improve with this set of players, they are mentally soft with absolutely no fight or desire - they are going through the motions week in week out.
We need a manager to be open & honest and then make the necessary 'major' changes, not to continue exactly what Coyle did and massage the players 'ego's

Given he can't change any of these players now, and will only be able to do so much in January, pissing them off is hardly going to help.Peter Thompson wrote:I want to hear his post match comments after that debarcle today - if he defends the players yet again then I've absolutely no faith in him. It is frustrating but there is no simple fix, will take time and patience.
Important we show some now, as at least we have a manager with a vision as opposed to the rudderless situation we had before.

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager
I'm curious as to what people want from our manager. Under Coyle we moaned about him playing an expansive 4-4-2, not being tactically organised and generally unprofessional.
Now Dougie to me is the exact opposite of that, yes he might be a little negative(I have no idea what happened this afternoon) but he has talked about fitness and tactics in an intelligent manner and has ditched the 4-4-2, exactly what many on here wanted. Yet people still complain. There seems to be have been a decent improvement in the games I've seen and we've accumulated more points and lost two games in ten. Yes its a little dour and perhaps why we've drawn more games than we should have but it seems an improvement on the previous incumbent.
I'd certainly have this bloke than the standard merry go round of managers.

There's barely any difference between his 'ppg' and a novice manager like Jimmy Phillips...

Yeah its technical possible to have a ppg of 3 if you quit after one game. Its called sample size.BL3 wrote:There's barely any difference between his 'ppg' and a novice manager like Jimmy Phillips...
