On paper Jerome is a far better player than Eaves. But what about on grass? He’s 36. Not seen him play recently. Can he still do a job here? And would that be a twenty minutes end of games job or would he be able to start games?

Only seen him start two games "recently"...Newport in the cup and West Brom in the league last year.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 7:45 pmOn paper Jerome is a far better player than Eaves. Fair play to him, he looked like Freddie Kanoute in both. Only been an impact sub all season in the league for Luton, however.

Was never convinced he was up to much at 26! Let alone 36...BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 7:45 pmOn paper Jerome is a far better player than Eaves. But what about on grass? He’s 36. In League One he's a player. Two amazing seasons at Norwich in the Championship and one of the top players in this league only 2 years ago.
Much much more like it compared to the other older players we've been linked to.

Not a premiership player but always very good in the championship.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 7:52 pmWas never convinced he was up to much at 26! Goal every 232 minutes at championship level. Considerably better than say Eaves…
But he’s 36….at his best though he’s easily better than anyone else we’ve been linked with. I just have no idea what he’s like now.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
So what's the forum consensus then if we do sign Jerome on a short term deal?
Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill!

You can never know if a player's legs have gone, or if an injury has scuppered them etc. Not unless you're in on the medical or see them train.
If Jerome is the same player he was last season he'll be a huge asset for 6 months. Probably not someone who can do 90 minutes how we play, but for 60 minutes one week and 30 another - I'd much rather than him than some others.
I'll stress I do not think this is a replacement for Adeboyejo. Again, can always be wrong; but this is one that I've heard and ignored this week and am told has rumbled for a while. I think it's most likely one we've picked up because other, older targets can't get fit. So not ideal not being Evatt's first choice, but there you go.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Providing Adeboyejo signs I would have no issue with Jerome, however if its only a short term 6 month deal why on earth would he come here ? he may as well stay where he is.
Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Assuming he's no Finnish, and the club staff are much better placed then me to know, Jerome as an experienced head and Adebayejo and I'd be v happy.

Maybe it’s been done but Probly to be announced tomorrow we did that with shoretire last week signed him then announced him day after or soGhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 7:35 pmWhilst I'm also getting those "oh shit" vibes, Wigan sacking Toure immediately they sign Ade would be bizarre even for them.
Though what I could easily is Toure blowing up over their deals falling through and getting sacked.
On Cameron Jerome, yeah - that feels right. Third time I've heard that name mentioned in the last two days.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
This is a good question and if Jerome were 18 months it'd become more iffy. There are a few reasons he might come here...just to spitball for a minute.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 8:43 pmProviding Adeboyejo signs I would have no issue with Jerome, however if its only a short term 6 month deal why on earth would he come here ? he may as well stay where he is.
When he went to Luton the project there was sold to him as working with their coaching team as part of an effort to get them to the Premier League. He was brought in to be that "coach on the pitch" sort and lead their line in certain games, but not to have to play every minute. He was given the full Evatt-style power point and video presentation about how he'd fit into the club set up and team.
That's fallen off this season and the promises made haven't quite been kept, so he may want to go somewhere where he'll get a more out of it. He doesn't have a long career left and it ma be important to him that he both has legacy moments (a promotion and cup win would offer that), as well as what looks like a hope to transition into coaching.
We may offer him precisely what he wants at this moment. Any suggestion he might have coached at Luton is now clearly not happening.

Ghost apologies if you have previously been asked & answered, however I have to ask where do you get all this 'supposed' inside info from ?. I know a couple of people close to the club but some of your posts about your knowledge of what's been going on has prompted the question.
Even your most recent post about knowing why Jerome went to Luton. As I say apologies if you have answered this previously but I've been away for a while and not been able to view the forum.
