Alternatively we could try and make a decent long term appointment that will keep us up. This squad is easily good enough to stay up, with the right leadership.

Ex alcoholic, ex football manager....

Its quite a rap sheet really.

Lol was just taking the piss there. Evidently Adams would not get backing from what I have seen on here.

Remove Tony Adams from yours and you have a valid candidate.

If that's your criteria what about:

Robson
Keegan
Shearer

All of whom had more England appearances as captain than Cap'n'Tone.

Alternatively, what about Paul Ince? Or Terry Butcher? They were England captains as well, must be good enough.

Not convinced meself.

me neither -Burnleys much-vaunted fantastic first season, fortress turf moor and world-class manager have netted them a grand 2 pts more than our entirely crap and rubbish season with the worst manager in the world and having played two games more than us.......
With a budget three times smaller.

Looking at the Poll anyone less than Hughes is going to get the Megson treatment as the majority will be against him no matter who he is!

Except "Me and My Mum" who is by far and a way out in second place.
Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED

Not necessarily the case. Of course it is hard to predict without seeing the next manager. Megson was truely hated by many fans right from the onset. While Little sam had the position for a few months really Megson was still following Big Sam. That was always going to be a tough act to follow. The next manager will be following Megson and not Big Sam. I think people will be a little for forgiving for the next manager at least until he loses a couple games or so.

The papers are reporting that Hughes has already said he's not interested as has Coyle, Peter Reid has got plenty of experience and a love of the club, although is he too close to Big Sam for Gartside?? If we want to take a chance on a up and coming guy, like Burnley did with Coyle the Freguson Jr fits the bill.
:conf:
Let's face it who ever gets the job MUST be backed by the fans from day 1 or we are doomed !!

While we are a perfect fit for Hughes, if he had jumped on board I would have thought it was one of the biggest shocks in football over the last decade. I am quite stunned that so many people seemed optimistic of him wanting to take over Bolton in the first place.

Daily Mail says he's ruled out, as has Coyler, and apparently so has Jewell...
Early yesterday afternoon there was a flurry of bets on Paul Jewell taking the job after the former Wigan and Derby manager was spotted by TV cameras at the Reebok on Tuesday night.

However, it emerged last night that Jewell was at the game as a guest of Megson and he was quick to rule out the possibility of replacing his friend.

Jewell said: ‘I find it embarrassing as I was at the Hull game with my son as a guest of Gary. There was no ulterior motive.

Love this in the Daily Mail.

Sympathy will be thin on the ground if Bolton struggle to replace Megson, a hard-working manager who is popular within the game.

I defy you to speak to anyone involved with Leicester City or Nottingham Forest who has a good word for him. Opinion is split at West Bromwich Albion. I hope he gets the Sheffield Wednesday job - a marriage made in heaven.
