And according (via Opta) to a thing in the new issue of the magazine I work for, he's made almost 450 flick-ons, 200 more than any other EPL player. And he has a better shot-to-goal ratio (14.2%) than Ronaldo, Rooney, Drogba, Van Persie, Defoe, Crouch, Zamora and Gyan.

Don't. Given your ridiculous suggestion one suspects that a tenner's worth might fall out!

The last stat is slightly odd, given he's scored three times from open play, and one was a header. Does it take into account penalties, or does he just never shoot?

I think you have hit the nail on the head. SKD very rarely gets himself in those goal scoring positions any more.

Apparently because he's busy doing twice as many flick-ons as anyone else in the league.

surely we can just work it out...

if he has scored 3 times from open play and that is a 14.2% shot-to-goal ratio - then he has had about 21 shots this season.

Why would a penalty (or a header) not be regarded as a shot? Seven goals would mean 49 shots, a much more reasonable number for someone with 35 appearances...

(if he plays the remaining three games it'll be the second season in three he's played 38. Last year he played 37.)

With the strikers we have, none are good enough, Elmander 5/6 decent games in 3 seasons, Davies never a goal scorer since he came, plenty of effort but not good enough, Klasnic ok as an impact sub but not to start, Blake ???, Eaves and Ward may have potential, but unproven.
Look at clubs who may be relegated, Wolves (Doyle and Fletcher), Wigan(Rodallega), WHU (Ba, Keane, Cole), Blackpool(Campbell), Blackburn(Kalinic), also stikers from championship sides who've missed promotion. Plenty out there who are better than we've got. We need 3 strikers 2 to sart and cover.

Excluding Fletcher, I'd bet that the other 7 haven't scored 20 between 'em

I'll keep Elmander, thank you

A few of em have more than I thought, but Elmander tops the list, despite playing in midfield for a couple of months

Indeed. Mind we've got to remember that all Bolton strikers are solely judged on how many goals they score.

With one very obvious exception.

I'd love to see what those folk who slag Elmander off as a hobby would make of Carlton Cole mind!

About the same as West Ham fans do I would imagine.

From that list and the way OC would like us to play and if we could afford them I would go for Demba Ba and Campbell
Pfffft.

I like Campbell but feel he is a product of the Blackpool system. Ba at times has looked quite good in a crap team.
