I can't for the life of me think why, his teams were awful at Liverpool.
Indeed they was most of the time but he still won the champions league and they will be dreaming of that aswell

Re: Coyle joint favourite for Aston Villa job
I can understand Villa fans being pissed off, but this, from a Villa supporters' spokesman is a wonderful comment, "The idea has already spread panic and alarm on forums and there is a Facebook page. [my italics]I just don't see it happening."
Well then.

All stems back from O'Neill's last season. Unrest about the club since his departure. Not moved on from it. Another case of a club getting way beyond their stations (they are a big club but their squad modern day was nothing like those in past histories).
Now they're looking at going into the new season with major holes in the team yet the attitude that Martinez wasn't experienced enough, McLeish and McClaren aren't good enough for them and Benitez, Moyes or Ancelotti would take the job.
No first choice keeper, no regular first team full-backs, best two players about to leave and never really had much in central midfield.
With Friedel, Walker, Young, possibly Downing all big first-teamers leaving the club and good squad players like Reo-Coker, Carew, seemingly Warnock, Ireland and Cuellar all leaving too they are down to the bare bones.
The team now is essentially Darren Bent, James Collins and a few of young lads like Ciaran Clark, Barry Bannan and Marc Albrighton. Massive pressure on Bent's goals.
Leeds fans got fed up of O'Leary...
Charlton fans got fed up of Curbishley...
Boro fans got fed up of McClaren...
Villa fans got fed up of O'Neill...
25/1 for relegation next year...

Just to say...
And someone else may have said it earlier...
We are a stepping stone in Coyle's career... a step up from Burnley and, soon enough, he'll be looking to take the next one...
There's no doubt that Villa are that, the only midlands club that have any kind of 'big club' claim.
I'm glad it's looking unlikely... But, if we have a good season next season... There will be other bigger clubs interested...

I look forward to it.

Yes but I would hope we are in a much better/stronger position squad wise to be able to cope with it then, than we are now. Don't want him to leave but it will happen eventually, but if he leaves us in a better state, then it's thanks and good luck to him.William the White wrote:Just to say...

If he leaves us with a good team and a solid foundation, so be it.

Re: Coyle joint favourite for Aston Villa job
Oh, Villa. Lerner didn't like the cut of Mark Hughes's jib, despite him being the outstanding candidate. No clear vision of who they want (exciting young Martinez? Respected but unloved McClaren? Dour old McLeish?) and now they're more or less holding an online poll on who should be the boss. It's a shuddering mess. 25-1 for relegation sounds like it's worth a sly few bob. Perfect storm: apparently directionless leadership, eighth-choice manager almost certain to have detractors from the off, squad mainly composed of kids and ageing wage-grabbers. If Bent gets crocked they're in dire trouble.

Well they'll never win the league, so I s'pose they've got a great chance.
