Disappointing. No more than that.

Decent performance second half - acc to radio...

We need to win a couple on the run...

It isn't impossible to believe that is possible in the next 11 days...

Zat knight can cock off!
Not great given Arsennals team sheet but not the end of the world neither.

Bring back jussi, wheater, reocoker ngog and possibly eagles in a 451 and id go with that...muamba keeping his place.

Oh dear oh dear, looking at those goals, oh dear.

Arshavin's - Why the feck were our 'defenders' just backing off him? Regardless of how overrated he is, you simply cannot give someone with shooting ability like his that much space.

Park - Who the feck is Park for a start, and why did he have so much space? Who was right back today? I've no idea but I'd put my money on Steinsson because he was nowhere to be seen. Nice finish though.

Park scores his first goal for his club...oh look it's Bolton the team that just keeps giving. :hang:

Just seen that it was Steinsson at right back.

Seriously this guy is a fecking disgrace, he's a complete embarrassment to BWFC and I can't believe how bad he is. When he first signed he looked like a solid full back and I thought we had some player on our hands but honestly, he isn't fit to lace Nicky Hunt's boots at the moment.

I'd be tempted to second that opinion. We're only a good one or two wins away from getting our confidence back. Should we do a number on Stoke and Everton and we can go into the winter period on a high. I think the weight of expectation and the belief that we have to perform week in week out is really getting to the team. At the minute they can't seem to do anything right in our eyes and thats clearly not the case, we've had a tough run of fixtures early on that just piled on the pressure coupled with our losing streak at home and we're thinking too much about it rather than being aggressive and going for the win.

I remember a member posting on this forum about Nicky Hunt's ability being stripped away by the likes of Phil Brown and Sam Allardyce so that he no longer bombed forward and attacked as much and instead relied solely on hoofing the ball up to Kevin Davies. Well ladies and gentlemen this may be the reason why. We're consistently getting pegged a goal back by having wayward wingers. Robinson less so (and I believe this is down to pace) an the right back more so (Steinsson) because he's gonna struggle to get back as often. Keep it simple. Don't let Steinsson or Robbo go past the RM and have the RM do most of the attacking.

At the minute we're having the situation where Cahill/Knight can't cover the RB slot because theres a player in the center dragging him them way or another leaving massive gaps.

Know your positions and stick to them. We've got Cahill and Knight up at every opportunity because of their height, we've got Steinsson and Boyata flying past Eagles (why they bother as Eagles just shoots at every opportunity) and we've got Robbo who sticks to his position and just gets annoyed.

Cahill/Knight/Wheater should stay back for the entirety of the match IMO. Just because they've gone up field does not absolve them of the blame of conceding. We don't need this 'its not my fault as I was attacking mindset'. If somethings wrong they need to address it as a back four. Cahill maybe a good defender but if hes upfield what good is that to the rest of the defenders. I think thats the problem. The players don't know where their counterparts are gonna be at any one time and as a result are getting dragged all over the show by their opponents. Had Cahill known Knight would've been picking up the striker he could've gone across to cover today. Instead we've got a situation where Muamba is the only one making a move to block the shot, Muamba could've got back and helped Knight out but as it stood Knight was not moving to win the ball as Cahill was marking that area. Knight should've come across and let the LB sort out the run from midfield. I'm sure its harder to coach this into players but i'm damn sure that should the players know exactly where they should be we'd have less of this.

What else could they have done mate? Step forward and put in a challenge and they either risk Arshavin going past them and having a one on one with Bogdan or using a little trickery and winning a penalty. We outnumbered the Arsenal players 5-2 at the back (not including Arshavin) and from that clip it looked like our defence were just trying to usher Arshavin to the byline, forcing him to go for the pull back where we could easily defuse the situation. It's all a game of percentages and tbh it was a good shot from the lad, i'd also disagree and say he's better drown for his dribbling and trickery then being a prolific shooter/scorer or whatever.

Second goal i'm totally in agreement. Steinsson doesn't even appear to be in our half when Arshavin launches the counter and although Cahill does well to bide some time, and Muamba does his best to close down Park, it's just too little too late.

Someone else was blaming Knight earlier in the thread, can I just ask why? Or is it just a force of habit?

I was fuming when I left. Because we should have won. At a canter.

somewhat irrational though. will post back tomorrow morning.

When there's 3 defenders closing down on one attacker, you'd think one of them would get the block in. Too casual if you ask me.

There's been talk for weeks of replacing Robbo with Gardner. After today's performance, who would still do it? (I'm asking as i couldn't watch the game).
