He has been the heart and soul for Bolton for a long time. His time had come, but will always be remembered as a legend to me.

Me too. Even though I've never really warmed to SKD as a footballing talent, I found myself welling up when trying to sing "Suuuuuuper, super Kev...." this aft. End of an era for sure.Bruce Rioja wrote:Absolutely. For me I didn't really notice the rest of the players - it was all about saying a fecking mahooosive thanks to SKD.Harry Genshaw wrote:The players took so long to come out I was ready to do one but it was only the thought of showing my appreciation for Kev that kept me there. Good luck in whatever you do fella - you'll always be a legend in mine & many others eyes

Re: SKD off to Canada...
Not a big fan of testimonials really so that was plenty for me as a send off.
The rest of them looked heartbroken which is good to see, hoping those who are here next year will want to avoid that feeling again..
I suppose Emma had her say by dressing their boys in matching tops with American flags on?

Really really emotional, I was welling up too, proper set me off when Eagles went and hugged him half way round.
Re: SKD off to Canada...
Impressive number of fans stayed given the disappointment and rightly so. My mate was giving me a lift home and wanted to leave but I refused to budge til I'd seen them off, especially SKD. Sad way to bow out but he had to go.

Re: SKD off to Canada...
Saw a preview of this evening's Late Kick Off in which SKD is a guest. From what was previewed is seems he's disappointed that his career didn't end with us.
Either he's arrogant enough to fully expect that someone at the tail end of their career, who's not playing at a level required of someone in this league, can expect to see out their days playing sub-standard football and still get selected due to his reputation, or, he's genuinly disappointed that he wasn't able to maintain his level of performance.
It'll be interesting to see the full programme to try and make a better judgement.

Might it not just be as you stated, that he's disappointed his career didn't end with a club he's been ten years with? Doesn't have to be arrogant or anything else.Always hopeful wrote:Saw a preview of this evening's Late Kick Off in which SKD is a guest. Absolutely. That's why I'd like to see the full programme to see what he says.TANGODANCER wrote:Might it not just be as you stated, that he's disappointed his career didn't end with a club he's been ten years with? Re: SKD off to Canada...
Well, it seems the preview dwelled on his statement about wanting to end his career with us, but that wasn't the main thrust. He's clearly gutted about leaving us, but hopeful that he'll play somewhere else next season 'cos he's still got confidence in his ability. Good on him. All the best for the future Kev. Thanks and goodbye.Always hopeful wrote:Absolutely. He wanted to end his career with us but he wanted to carry on playing. I don't think the two line up together correctly and I think the right decision to let him go was the right one.Always hopeful wrote: Well, it seems the preview dwelled on his statement about wanting to end his career with us, but that wasn't the main thrust. Re: SKD off to Canada...
I don't think it's quite either of those. I think he honestly still thinks he's good enough. I mean it's fairly obvious he isn't, but I imagine it's a lot harder to see when you're the player in question. I think it's sad he couldn't end his career with us, but you can't afford to be sentimental, certainly not on those wages. Hopefully he'll end up at Sheff Utd or Chesterfield and have an Indian summer there. He'll always be a hero for me, but it's time.Always hopeful wrote:Saw a preview of this evening's Late Kick Off in which SKD is a guest. In fact, hopefully he'll end up somewhere in the Champo and come back next year; get a fantastic reception before and after the game, but have a shocker on it as we win 5-1 and Coloccini gets sent off. Or something.

I hope he goes to West Ham, and for a short period of time has a revival. Would probably cause their fan's heads to explode.
Re: SKD off to Canada...
Y'know, I'd take that too.
