What we do agree on, is that to avoid a transfer ban something good has happened.

Seeing those highlights we haven't lost our gift for comedic defending . Two good finishes from le fondre and cravies looked threatening . Good to see walker being given an opportunity to take some set pieces . Implies he is part of the set up and has the respect of the senior players as clough did when he came in . Looked pretty poor from both sides really . Millwall have no confidence going forward fortunately and there looks very little from us in the second half .
Still 2 0 and really pretty much safe . Pre season starts here !
It will be interesting to see where we are financially this year. For all his failings I think we may find freedman left us in a much better situation than he found us in . Balancing the books at the expense of any kind of joy on the pitch may have become an obsession for him but if Lennon is able to do more as a result of the changes freedman made some credit should be due . In some ways he may have had to see us through the most difficult period since McGovern was in charge .
There is a difference in the way lennon appears to take on the situation though and that is positivity . He seems to see it as a challenge that something better can be made of . I think freedman ultimately developed a negative mindset largely due to the restraints and ck situ ins he was working under . Freedman couldn't see a way forward , Lennon sees it as a challenge by which he can prove himself .

Contracts ran out and weren't renewed, that's not getting players out.thebish wrote:aye - dougie shunted off a fair troop of high-rollers and replaced them with loans and cheapies... Which ones did he get out?

Petrov, Sordell, Andrews and N'gog are a few that spring to mind. All of them would have been on bigger money than the ones he brought in to replace them.jaffka wrote:Contracts ran out and weren't renewed, that's not getting players out.thebish wrote:aye - dougie shunted off a fair troop of high-rollers and replaced them with loans and cheapies... He also cancelled the contract of Sam Ricketts before it ended and I suspect that he would have got rid of Eagles, Mears and Knight if he could have found buyers for them.

Amos likes a good shout at the defence, maybe that's one reason he rates him. If Amos is shouting at the defence Lennon can focus on shouting at other players who probably need shouting at.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Definitely worrying that their misses were due to poor finishes rather than great defending. Three times they were clear though on goal and should have scored. Our good luck, their bad play.Jonah wrote:Seeing those highlights we haven't lost our gift for comedic defending .

You thought ours was bad!! what about there's for our two goals!!! great finishes but it might aswell been just alf vs keeper!
Alf won't get that sort of time against Ipswich but I still back him to score.

I thought their keeper made the first one easy for alf though it was still a good finish . Keeper was in no mans land and appeared to have forgotten where his goal was. You are forgetting also that our goals are always due to good play and the ones we concede are always due to errors .

My loutish, chimney-sweeping c*nt of a mate thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality of Bolton. Not his first trip to Horwich by any means, but his first Saturday night out in the town centre. Cracking.
Game was pretty awful, but I enjoyed it, as is my want. Some nice moments and some good individual performances, pleased for Walker, looked comfortable.

I think Lenny might have had a word with him at half time. Got dispossessed a lot in the first half trying to 'Georgie Best' it through the opposition, played the short ball more often in the second. Came very close to scoring a peach as well. Comfortable with the ball at his feet. Overall I quite like the look of him.Jonah wrote:Sounded like walker did quite well.

Good win.
Yeah Walker was trying too hard to impress, wasn't releasing the ball when he should have. But he'll learn and indeed he neatly scored a pearler. I was annoyed to hear two men next to me tearing into him for losing the ball. It's his first start! He'll learn.
I thought Coke did well when he came on. He's a bigger lad than I thought he was. But indeed, we almost let Millwall back into the game which shouldn't have happened.

Seriously? 4Ucking Hell. I like to think that now we're down to 14,000 the wankers and their over-expectations might have left. Clearly not!Jugs wrote: I was annoyed to hear two men next to me tearing into him for losing the ball. It's his first start! He'll learn.

One of the positives for me, was the fact that he didn't just play the easy passes when they were there - Lots of young players do, but he was genuinely trying to influence the game, which I thought was encouraging.. He'll only get better, but I do feel he would have been MIA against a savvier team than Millwall, who I thought were utterly dreadfulJugs wrote:Good win.

Yeah, I'm afraid this has to colour our view of the weekend. I'm very glad we won and have practically put relegation to bed, but we were playing a third-tier team.boltonboris wrote:a savvier team than Millwall, who I thought were utterly dreadful

Credit to Lennon for taking Danns off at half time - he was very liable to get sent off the way he was diving into challenges which were brought on by his own clumsiness in falling over the ball when running with it. Further credit to Lennon for not putting Trotter on - the sight of him lumbering down the touchline put the wind up me - I said to my daughter that I had never boo'd a Bolton player on to the field but I would make an exception in his case.

So where were you at the 87 minute mark when pockets of boo's rang out at the introduction of Trotter??
