Thing is his hold-up play CAN be good, like at hillsborough the other week and in s few games early season. It just makes it even more frustrating that he's utter dogshit 90% of the time.

aye... against eastleigh away - he totally failed to hold anything up at all... a wet fish on a greasy pole would have been stickier...

What makes me laugh about that highlights video is Jack Dearden. "And it's Madine Surely!"

Surely!!

On Saturday's game - it struck me the criticism of Madine for the 2nd miss was a bit harsh. He seemed to do well to even get to it. The first miss was a bad un though
Aye. If that was the easiest he'd missed all season he'd genuinely be on 15-20 by now. It's like one sitter a game!
Proper sitters too. Every forward will fluff some but Jeez, he's redefined missing. As said he would be easily mid teens if he'd just put those in.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Let's not beat about the bush.
Madine is shit. He misses opportunities my arthritic mother would convert merely by sticking a limb out at random if she was in the right position.
As for him being 'phenomenal' at hold up play, eh?

Yes, Madine is wank at this level. Yes, he misses more than he scores and gets barged off the ball way too easily. But I think we should start looking at next season here; if we do go down, Madine has a good record at League One level and may be the man to get us back up.

didnt think madine was one of our main problems on saturday - yup the first half miss was a howler, the 2nd half one a good chance - why he went with his left peg, god only knows, but other than that he did actually win quite a lot of his heading contests & hold it up for his non showing team mates.

Dervite, Moxey, Pratley and Davies should have been made to do 50 laps after the game - heart just not in it. Having at least those 4 as passengers, meant whole team reverted into a fairly passive, immobile unit. Just beggars belief that it was the same team who had played pretty well a week earlier - do we still have a sports psychologist on the books ?

Bless you Jugs.

But it doesn't matter what level you're playing at the goals remain the same size and if he can't hit a fckg barn door with a JCB he can't.

You're absolutely right, but a players mental condition plays a part too. Madine admitted that he missed a sitter against Rovers because of a lack of confidence. In a shitter division surrounded by shitter defenders, he might be able to find his mojo.

Sign of a team on the down, that sentence! Apart from failing to convert one golden chance and one decent chance, the man who gets paid to score goals did quite well at holding it up back-to-goal 40 yards out.
Yay.

I don't think he held it up once. He is a big lad who never backs into defenders. If he made the ball stick then he might be half useful.

Keeping in mind of course that we still have debts, have no money, a skeleton staff of players and no chance of getting any more in the foreseeeable future. What position can you play?

I'll go for fat bastarkd without skill but a determined manner with an intent to maim. Deceptively slow & a tendency to nip.

#4 please.
