I know, that makes it extra funny! Fact is they were shit and we gifted them goals though. Fair play to them for keeping going and scraping something, but it's winning at home that will keep the miniscule chance of staying up alive. If recent pattern is anything to go off, we'll be wank on Sat and it will be effectively all over.Harry Genshaw wrote:As bad as we've been this year them to55ers still couldn't beat us

Agreed! WP was raving how Spearing was breaking everything up! I know he may have been at fault for there goal but the lads hardly kicked a ball for months! he's a must for me! WP also mentioned that Wolves were on edge with regards to Woolery's pace!Peter Thompson wrote:Very good point from being 2-0 down, but its only a good point if we beat Rotherham on Saturday.
Showed much needed character, spirit & some bottle tonight though, so credit where its due - we need to fight like this in every game, well done the players & management team....this is all we've been asking for fighting spirit & passion.
Apparently we bossed the game, so come on NL learn from it whatever happened tactically or whoever made a difference (Spearing, Dobbie or whoever ?) tonight stick with it.
I'd stick with the same exact team.

From the sounds of it, tonight's performance was similar to the one away to Sheffield Wednesday a few weeks ago so it's good to get something from a game that we dominated this time round. Saturday is now huge and if can manage to win that then the great escape could well and truly be on. We still have games against Rotherham, Preston, Bristol City, Reading, Charlton and Fulham so there's the chance to pick up a lot of points at the expense of those in and around us.
Having said that, they'll no doubt piss it all away at the weekend just as I've got my hopes up.

4 points off safety.

It's also doable. There's time yet and other teams are frequently playing poorly. Any of those teams could quickly gain on the others IF they put a run together. Drawing away, with majority possession and over a dozen efforts, ain't the worst result - especially coming from two down.Lord Kangana wrote:4 points off safety.

Especially against Wolves. Something very satisfying about a draw at their lair.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: Drawing away, with majority possession and over a dozen efforts, ain't the worst result - especially coming from two down.

Well done. Especially what I'm reading of the performance, as much as the result.
I was out and we were one down. So surprised to read we came back. That's not been a frequent event this season.
I'm not getting onto the horse of hope yet though.

Re: He's mad...Wolves away. Feb 2nd...
The first goal I felt was unlucky, it deflected from midfield and turned into a superb through ball for Mason. Not much that could have been done. And once you're one down after 3 minutes the game plan changes. But we responded well, had good possession and were in control of the game.
I liked the balance of the midfield. Spearing has his faults but he broke up play well. We need that kind of player in there. Trotter in recent form has been a revelation, I was surprised he took him off. He linked up play between defence and attack excellently. And Mavies just adds that bit of quality.
The lad up top worked hard, linked up decently and seemed to have a little pace about him. I'm not sure about his goal threat but on that 60 minutes he may prove a useful player in the run in.
I have very little confidence in our goalie and Dervite atm. Dervite seems to lose possession far too often and makes so many defensive errors. Amos, while didn't have to save much, gave me frights every time he tried to catch the ball. There was one comical punch that led to a half chance.
In the end, I was almost disappointed we didn't get three points. They were there for the taking even in the last five minutes. But we settled for the draw, understandably. With all that said, we don't to create clear cut chances, it's more a case of getting it out wide and sticking it in the box. Quite often nothing pans out but the build play was encouraging.
If we stick with this formation I think we have a shot of staying up. But I don't know where you would shoehorn Clough in, perhaps straight up top? It could be interesting, he seems to position himself in the box quite well and gets on the end of his fair share of crosses. It may also encourage the team to feed through balls to him. It may just work but I fear it's too bold a move for Lennon.

I must admit I turned off the radio when we went 2 down and only checked the score after it finished, fully expecting a 3 or 4 - 0 defeat. Went to bed very happy. A draw from that position is as good as a win. Especially against the dogheads.

You do have previous when it comes to Dobbie tbf. You still owe your toilet lurking mate a letter of apology after his equaliser at home to Forest!LeverEnd wrote:So I was only half right.Jugs wrote:You also said Dobbie is wank and won't score again; I don't believe you! Cracking result, cracking!
Re: He's mad...Wolves away. Feb 2nd...
Very good performance. Never thought I would say this but Trotter was MoM with good backing from Spearing and Mavies. Their first goal was lucky but Holding not strong enough; the second Henry walked through 4 tackles to score. Other than the goals Wolves created nothing.
Silva is good in patches, Feeney beats his man and can't cross the ball. I thought the back 4 looked OK with the exception of Holding's error.
Woolery gets knocked off the ball too easily and Heskey is slow and past it. If only we had a striker (Joe Mason or Alf) I'd be more optimistic of staying up if
