Their keeper was named MOTM, but I'd have liked him worked a lot more.

Clean sheet is a positive. Mainly in total control of the game. Attacking movements not fluid, which is what we expected.
Didn't do enough, but Evat can't cross the ball for them.

Ran out of ideas on the final third.
Not great. But clean sheet a bonus.

Pretty disappointing all in all, feels like we could’ve played another 90 and not scored today.
The combination of Johnston and Schon with the ball down the left looks like it could be promising.
Would’ve liked to see a bit more urgency throughout the game a lot of standing still and stationary movement at times. I like Collins but it felt like he had to come very very deep to get the ball.

Agreed. But I couldn’t think of a counter player for the award. None of ours had a game id mark over 6/10. Their defence wasn’t worked enough. Delivery, set pieces and open play was shocking.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 4:56 pmTheir keeper was named MOTM, but I'd have liked him worked a lot more.

Re: Welcome to Bolton. Wrexham (h), 18/08, 3pm
Yup. Any hope of our problems being resolved have been allayed.
It's a case of same old shit. Plenty of the ball, poor passes and points thrown away. Ref didn't do us any favours, they got the rub of the green and i'm sure they'll get the same throughout the season.
We were the better side, but nothing coming from it.
Maybe the weight of expectation from a large crowd, Sky TV, etc. might've caused us a few problems and a few failed to deliver. Some poor performances out there from Adeboyejo, who had played well in previous games.
This is all too familiar. I've no doubt we've added to the squad to help us get past games like this. It might very well be too soon for us to have the impact we need, we need them to have a bit more cohesion. Sad thing is, i'm not overly that even if we were to change things that we'd make a difference.
Evatt has brought in players that look to swap the ones we've currently got, but not necessarily to change the way we play. The players looked lost as to how to break the opposition down. Sometimes putting the ball into the box and challenging for a header could've offered something a little different.
Same old, same old. Evatt in, this season's progress still underway, today is too much of an outlier:
Parkinson back
First league game since playoff final
Welcome to Wrexham influence
Sky TV influence
etc.
Hopefully it's not a sign of history repeating.

Did people think all our issues would be solved inside the first 3 games?

Choose your own narrarive:
1). Same old Bolton. No leaders. Bottlers. Evatt out Evatt out. Not fit to wear the shirt. Liability. Pub league players.
Or.....
2) A draw in exactly the sort of game we'd have lost last season. Their keeper MOTM. Half our team only known each other a week. Played 3. Won 2. Drawn 1. Plenty of time for everyone to settle down and for the new formation to click.
I think we can all guess which of us will choose which of the above.....

Not at all. And not helped by Collins and Cogley, two of our best players last season, starting poorly - was hoping they would hit the ground running!GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 5:06 pmDid people think all our issues would be solved inside the first 3 games?
But, the problem Evatt has is fans will turn quickly if we’re still turning out performances like that next month at home.
I’m happy we got a point in the end. I’m not happy about how we played but of course I accept it’s early days this season and there’s a lot of football to play.
Had that pinned against Carlisle at home last season and were a point up…

Nope.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 5:06 pmDid people think all our issues would be solved inside the first 3 games?
A bad result, or frustrating result seems like something we should be getting out of our system. 0-0. It's a test of how well our fan base get behind the team. There didn't seem to be a whole host of boos ringing around, but the frustration is evident.
The signings look decent, the performances decent for the most part, the consistent results... yet to come.

It makes you wonder why every game isn't just declared 0-0 in August as no one can expect wins, because there's been transfers. Can't expect owt with 25,000 on and even "we might have lost that, last season." Nowt like lining the excuses up early.
