Kicking the bucket .E.F.L Cup 3rd round. Away to Arsenal Wed, 25th Sep. 7-45.

So much for being hard to beat. Not quite Huddersfield bad but not great.
This lot are a million times better than us to be fair. They probably have 3 teams that could beat us!
True.

Not about us conceding well worked Arsenal goals. Its about the goals we could've avoided and making problems for ourselves. Goal three being a prime example. 4 or 5 less so but avoidable too

Pretty much giving the impression that we've played into Arsenal's hands.

I’d be intrigued to see how many touches of the ball our midfield 3 have had this half. I can’t remember many.

The thing that’s ultimately matters is Saturday which is a must win. Losing this really is insignificant.

Still. This is a free hit for Evatt.

I've got little confidence at our ability against sides that are better than us. Were not upsetting the odds any time soon.

Agreed and it’s down to his character and the character of the teams he builds. You won’t upset many top sides trying to be a nice technical side. It’s why I’m very frustrated at times. I think it’s holding us back,

Agreed..we’ve had no bookings which tells a story as well. We’ve had a nice tour of the stadium I’m sure…

Anyway we might of come here, rattled into tackles and lost 6-1 and been knackered for the weekend. Tonight means nothing and we need 3 points Saturday against a team with no manager.

Doesn’t give me much hope we’ll ’dig in’ at Rotherham or Birmingham though.

Said before the game that 5 or less for Arsenal would have been a success. Had enough good moments in the first half. Not fussed about this at all.

Out-classed and hung ourselves by sheer poor play. Arsenal chewed us up and spat the bits out. Sheer panic at the end and looking very clueless. Not much else to say. Did anybody actually play well? Despite our acquisitions, we look a worse team than last season.

Thanks to J.D.B, Man of he match.

Agreed. The way we play, with league 1 quality players, will always lead to mistakes. Playing against other league 1 teams we can get away with it to an extent. Santos used to be able to recover and save us at times, but he can’t do that.
It’s just plain daft playing like this against Arsenal though. We’ve just made soft basic errors that a quality side have brutally punished.

It's holding us back. Evatts done really well with his plan A but that only gets him so far.

When we don't change to suit the opposition we get beat.

Hopefully a nice day out for everyone that went but sloppy defending costing us goals.

The lack of a plan B is impacting us again.

We didn't have any bookings when United beat us 6-0 at home. Stubbs and McGinlay among those infallible old-time heroes who didn't get booked. It can happen.

Balls to this and onwards we go. He's had his night off, he needs to keep winning league games.

Ah, well. Probably should’ve made more from a couple of openings and a couple of sitters and a penalty and a goalfoetus, but expected loss. Would like a shock every now and then, but then they wouldn’t be shocks. Now onto the nailed-on blistering 5-0 ‘gainst Crawley.

That 6-0 United game is the one I think of with no bookings - sure super John made the point after. If you’re going to go down, go down fighting or similar. I dunno. Makes no sense to sap our energy I agree. But maybe it’s modern footballers in general now, not sure! I just think back to last season - Pompey away - we knew we weren’t going to be able to go there and play Plan A, need to be able to dig in and get results - be nice to practice that I guess? We sort of did first half, very much played a flat back 5. Then second half we start with the ‘tippy tally’ (copyright allardici) bollocks and boom, done.

Won’t give a shit if we win our next 5.

Only managed to see some of the first half. Did Forino get injured?

2 over the bar, 1 scored, 1 disallowed and a potential penalty.

That's 5-5 in an alternative universe.

Just clocked, too, that star-studded West Ham lost 5-1 at Liverpool. So at least we’re as good as them.
