"...and you can shove Lindum away up your Colonia!" - Lincoln away (EFL Trophy) Tuesday 14th Jan 2025 7pm

Where fellow sufferers gather to share the pain, longing and unrequited transfer requests that make being a Wanderer what it is...

Us winning this trophy and booing Evatt when he lifts it is going to be incredible.

Written in the stars.
3000 down at Wembley? Would be a complete humiliation.

Do you really care what the attendance would be?

He's talking about winning a trophy, i'd take that, even if there were only one person watching.

Christ. No idea how we won as we were so poor all over the park. It’s hard to pick out a specific example of what isn’t working, because nothing is. We look so shallow without Sheehan—although I appreciate he isn’t the panacea. We never seem to receive the ball in space and that has to be down to the pace of play. We don’t win second balls; we don’t win knock-downs (because Vic and Collins); we don’t hit the wing-backs over the top (because Thommo’s form.) What is the plan?

Still, we ground something out against a poor side. There’s that. I’d love to win it. Don’t think it’d be a blistering 4-0 at any point, however.

Easy for parking and smaller queues for the bar though. Sounds like a cracking day out tbh.

Passing the trophy sideways down a line of static players, reminiscent of the performances that win it for us.

Over the last two games we've allowed the opposition 37 attempts on our goal. 37.

Yeah, but there's only been 3 goals against. Less than 1 goal per 12 shots.

That means that in any game as long we just let the opposition have 12 shots then we won't concede and we can't lose.

That's how it works isn't it????

We actually kept a clean sheet but we really do look awful. The opposition was bad technically, but they always look to pass the ball forward. We on the other hand always look to safety first by passing backwards. Why ?? On one occasion, we almost gave up a goal after we were in a very promising position out left on the wing when somehow we managed to get the ball all the way back to our central defense when a bad pass was made and we were almost punished. That's why the better sides beat us in the league. They will take the chances we give them. Evatt has us playing "afraid" football. No one except perhaps Collins, Schon and Tutu are willing to take the chance to play forward with any regularity.

Just like watching Brazil, that was.

Unfortunately it was the Brazil that turned up against Germany in the 2014 World Cup semi-final.

We won. Some lads got minutes into them. Another Collins goal. Crack on.

We won and CMG looked a bit lively when he came on.

I think that's about all there is.

Lincoln made a couple of mistakes in that match, the marginal offside that disallowed their goal and their bad defending for our winner.

Aside from those, they were the better side. They looked more threatening, looked more up for it and genuinely looked interested in winning the match.

I don't think we deserved the win tonight.

I do enjoy a trier, and I agree CMG looked likely. Compare that to Vic and he's miles ahead of him in terms of effort levels.

Not that i'm wanting to give Vic too much grief, but he's got to give us at least something to work with in order to get behind him. Be pissed off with the fans, Evatt, etc. all he wants, but at least try.

It genuinely wouldn't surprise me if he was trying to force a move through by underperforming. Probably the best thing for his career in the long run (so can't really blame him), but jesus wept, it makes it hard to get behind as a fan.

Would've been much better had Evatt said, get a few goals tonight and we'll look to sell you. Rather than we value you at X amount and no-ones interested so we can't sell until the right offer comes in, only for underperformance to be the review into the decision making process and then the value gets lowered.

He’s now got as clearer route to the first team as he’s ever had. I think it’s fairly simple - he’s a penalty hard player. He can’t do the things Evatt is asking him to do (drop into DM and slip it sideways to the sweeper keeper). He’s not trying. Infuriating - another who won’t get the chance to play for a club this size again. Make the most of it!

It's arguable that he shouldn't have been given the chance in the first place. Prior to his signing he had one good season at Burton under his belt and (13 in 34) and the rest of his seasons have been woeful in terms of goal return. He had a good return for us last season, 10 in 44, but aside from that, it's hitting the same poor numbers.

Low goal output should be expected based upon his history. What I don't expect is poor effort levels.
