Wow. That does show his mind-set.
Still, a nice enough life to be paid to play and live in Cyprus I guess.
Is it just me that finds this "European Football" focus by players amazing. It's for maybe 3 or 4 games. Do some players only "get up" (sorry) for some games ? ... which might explain why they look like they can't be arsed for a Tuesday evening match away to Barnsley.Moritz has been holding on to see if a deal materialises from the Premier League, but with APOEL able to offer Champions League football next season, they represent an attractive proposition for the 27-year-old.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Champions League or Championship? It's not a tough choice...bobo the clown wrote:Wow. That does show his mind-set.

Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
Indeed - but were we in the Champions League and they in the Cypriot second tier, I'd still expect him to come 'ere. We've benefited enough over the last 20 years from being in an attractive domestic league. And yes, "attractive" mainly means financially.Bruce Rioja wrote:I'd have thought that living under Cypriot sunshiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnne might be a factor also.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Champions League or Championship? It's up to him, of course it is .... and there are many factors. Being in a nice place with sun & beaches and playing for that countries best club would be an influence.
But at 27 it seems to lack football ambition. It's all well & good "playing in Europe" but it does just smell of semi-retirement. A sort of sunny version of signing for Shamrock Rovers.

Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
I see what you're saying. But you could argue the same about him re-signing with some flat-broke shit-pokes from the arse end of England who were closer to the third tier than the top last season. Key phrase in that story is the one about him awaiting Premier League interest. Aren't we all, sunshine.bobo the clown wrote:It's up to him, of course it is .... and there are many factors. Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
Ha, I'm always struck by the same thought whenever there's talk of an Old Firm player moving to a mid-table Premier League team, and one of the 'pros' of staying is 'Champions League football'. Even when they have a good year they're only going to play as many games against Champions League teams as mid-table Premier League teams do! Half the time you beat some Estonian part-timers over two legs, then get humped for six games and then it's back to Partick Thistle and St Mirren for six months.bobo the clown wrote:Wow. I don't understand footballers mentality though: Whilst I'd go and play for Anzhi, get racially abused and have to commute thousands of miles to play home games in my war-zone home for £300kpw, I'm not sure I would if I was *already* getting paid £150kpw to live and work in Barcelona or Milan.
Can't say I blame him for choosing Cyprus over the Championship though.

Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
Some f*cking present he turned out to be.
Batteries not included, and then dad had to take it back to the shop cos it was broke, only to be told after 12 months is up that we can't afford the subscription anymore, so its going up on ebay. After sucking up 12 months of pocket money. I'll just have a pack of Top Trumps next christmas, thanks Dougie.

No dribbling category, and most importantly, no taking the piss out of Arsenal defenders category. Nonsense as LK says...

It may come from that era where Sam used him primarily as a long-throw person and stopped him doing the mazy dribbles. His attacking threat truly diminished later on.Lord Kangana wrote:Only 78 in attack? Pffft. Stuff and nonsense.
