Put it this way then....if everything behind the scenes is rosy and the players are playing for Freedman then we may as well seriously fcuking turn the lights off and lock the doors.Worthy4England wrote:Not sure what if anything is "wrong behind the scenes" or necessarily whether Freedman has "lost respect", but the rest I have some sympathy with.
That was a very poor performance. They looked more composed than us most of the game, we often had the ball and could find no willing runner, no one to pass to so went backwards. I lost count of the number of times we went across the back four and hit a pass under little or no pressure, less than twenty yards, behind the player it was intended for. So instead of switching play, it stopped it. Beckford and Eagles both missed sitters, but we couldn't have grumbled had they won.
No point listing who I thought was poor, they'd all get a mention.
Kudos to Baptiste, stunning headed to beat Bogdan.
I'll nail my colours to the mast - we don't have a prayer of getting promoted anytime soon under Freedman, he's just not up to it....we play like a team not coached & not managed.....outplayed & outfought by Sheff Weds at home !

I didn't go. "Winner !!"

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Do Owls poo in the Reebok woods?
Just got in having failed to get on GMR as I didn't pick up quick enough when they rang me back, I'm going to have my rant on here.
They used to call Ranieri 'tinker man' and yet nothing could be truer of Dougie. From a winning side he makes two changes. Not changes that would address our biggest problem ie 442 at home rather than 451, but nonesensical changes that IMO disrupted the momentum we had built up.
Make no mistake, this was almost a point saved rather than two dropped. Arguably, they could have been 3-1 up by half time and I didn't see anything wrong with their disallowed goal at the time. Young Sian was very late with her flag. That having been said we missed two absolute sitters and Kirkland pulled off two world class saves at the death.
A point was probably a fair result over all. Again we looked a much better side with two up front and I'm still wondering why Dougie insists on a system that clearly isn't bringing enough clear cut chances. We didn't create a single chance in the second half until we went 442.
I'm starting to lose patience. On another note, rumour has it that one of our forwards (of the heavily tattooed variety) has a serious drink problem, not an injury.

Feel the same Bobo. Was a bit pissed off as I gave my ticket away last week thinking I couldn't make it, then things changed and I sat at home, 2 miles from the ground thanking my lucky stars.bobo the clown wrote:I didn't go. "Winner !!"
I've had it with Dougie now, wanted him to do well but he's not got it, not yet anyway, and we can't afford to wait.
Thing is as well, even if he improves results, which I doubt he can sufficiently, I don't see any prospect of decent football. just more defensive boring shit.

Watching Beckford get picked ahead of you in a negative formation would drive anyone to it. look at that CrazyHorse fellow!Bijou Bob wrote:

Said forward apparently left the stadium before the game in a strop, having been told he wasn't in the squad. Team spirit must be at an all time high...Bijou Bob wrote:Just got in having failed to get on GMR as I didn't pick up quick enough when they rang me back, I'm going to have my rant on here.

On the match...well, do I have to? Good finish from Beckford, Chungy looked a bit livelier than of late, and Ream had another good game, but there the bright sparks end.
Most were poor - special mention to Spearing (who couldn't place a 5 yard pass all game) and Baptiste (who's looking more and more shite by the game) though.
We sat back too much, stood off too much, didn't look for the ball often enough. Time and again we were forced to play along the back line as the midfielders ran away from the ball. Time and again we made Wednesday look like they were Barcelona with their passing, such was the extent of the room we gave them. Just poor, poor, poor.
I don't like manager-hopping. But Freedman is running out of time.

That was the first game I've been able to get to this season and I was truly shocked at how lacklustre and devoid of a game plan it was, even compared to last season. I saw a marked downturn in performance compared to last season. The midfield was non-existent and the 'plan' seemed to be sit back until they lost the ball, then knock it around the back four for a while and then hoof it up front, completely by-passing the midfield. Didn't work and is horrible to watch.
Having said that, if we'd have put our chances away we'd have won. But if this is the style Dougie wants to play, it's not for me thanks.
Hope is what keeps us going.
Re: Do Owls poo in the Reebok woods?
I don't think it was as bad as most make out. Goals change games and we had 4 (Eagles, Beckford, Millsx2) chances that should have been scored but didn't in the 2nd half. There do seem to be a lot of idiots at Bolton, getting annoyed when we're keeping the ball instead of charging forwards like lunatics, booing eagles and getting worked up at a referee who made an obvious right call not to give a pen and then book hall.
Anyway my ratings would be
Bogdan 5 a couple of times cosses came in and there seemed to be confusion between him and the defence, and he was shocking for their disallowed goal.
McNaughton 5 Good first half poor second
Ream 6 Made a few mistakes near te end but is playing well and it is good to have a cb who is comfortable on the ball
Mills 7 defensively superb, very unlucky not to score, only problem is his shoddy passing
Baptiste 5 I never thought he was great defensively on the right and he's no better on his wrong side
Medo 5 better in the last 10 but his passing was woeful for most of the game
Spearing 6 much improved in the second half, more like the player from last season
Feeney 6 good crosses early on, i like how he charges down the wing as soon as he gets the ball, went quiet
Danns 6 some good moments and created the goal well but was anonymous for much of the game
Eagles 2 still not worth abusing your own player, he had similar performances last season and then suddenly changed it around
Beckford 5 Very good finish, nowt else. Should have had another, instead of challenging for headers he prefers to prod defenders in the back giving away a freekick
Lee 7 really good when he came on, possibly the biggest positive from this game. If he keeps this up he'll be back to his old self
Ngog 6 always looks better coming on than when he starts
Hall 5 wasted the opportunity when we had a chance a couple of times.

Yes lets just continually nice person aimless high long ball after aimless high long high ball to the striker & wingers and miss out the midfield.AbrahM wrote:I don't think it was as bad as most make out. Goals
Freedman talks like he's a student of the beautiful game and he knows what he's doing, but in reality week in week out he's a mix of John Beck and Mike Bassett.

Re: Do Owls poo in the Reebok woods?
This was a poor and disheartening performance.
Seriously, unless this changes we will be relegated. And deserve to be.
I think this is our worst team since Phil Neal days - the Rioch/Todd side that got us promoted from Division 3 had more skill, heart, team spirit, commitment and determination than this sorry, sorry lot.
I sat there in the second half thinking that not one player on the pitch was worth me paying my money to see. And - even more bizarrely - longing for Knight to come on to shore up the defence.
The idea that Mills had a good game today - as attested by a couple of us - is very, very far fetched. Baptiste was dreadful. Ream is in the wrong position - and did I get fed up of him (and others) punting it long to Beckford, who hasn't got a header in his locker, never mind on the pitch (but scored a lovely goal when we kept it on the grass).
Ngog's arrival - ten minutes too late - sparked a little endeavour, threat and skill. Too little and far too late.
We are in trouble - seriously - with players without heart or confidence or spirit.
