Re: Division Three, 2024/25
Fevrier is a player I've wanted here for a while, but our analysis team will likely have looked at his one-touch build-up work and viewed that as an issue. I disagree, but I can understand why they've not gone there.
I feel pretty strongly that he'll end up in the Premier League, with the right coaching behind him.
Barry would have been an excellent addition, but in terms of development he's better off at Stockport. Settled there and guaranteed minutes. So likely Villa were very happy to send him back.
Lewis Bate I like, but if you get Matete you probably don't pick up Bate.
We have largely recruited well. I'll always sing the same song I have for years now, regarding recruiting lads with injury issues and bother you get into; but they're talented and fit our needs.

Re: Division Three, 2024/25
Wrexham go three points clear with another win to nil. They'd have a perfect record if they hadn't been held to a draw by some basket cases...
Barnsley win as well to go third. I'd hoped they'd drop away this season; at least they're still very erratic - another dirty home sheet, even if this time they held on (last time they let Northampton take a point home from 2-0 down).
Charlton held at home by Rotherham, who are still to click; another booking for Steve Evans, who is still a dick.
Everybody else postponed.

126 points to play for.
No teams with 100% records after 5 games.
All to play for.

So our point ahainst Wrexham is turning out to be a point gained and not 2 points lost. A lot more comforting.

It's certainly looking like we kept one of the early pacesetters much quieter than anyone else has yet. Pity our attack was/is so blunt we couldn't get the win.irie Cee Bee wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 3:12 amSo our point ahainst Wrexham is turning out to be a point gained and not 2 points lost. Only in the context of mid-table. For automatics, it's still 2 dropped at home, for me.

I think we can spin it however we like 4-5 games in.irie Cee Bee wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 3:12 amSo our point ahainst Wrexham is turning out to be a point gained and not 2 points lost. A lot more comforting.
We've only beaten Orient and they're bottom.
We took a point off (And should have beaten) Wrexham, who are top.
We're at 50% of our points aim.
We are one win off what would have been seen as an acceptable start and there are 42 league games to play.
There's a lot of panic fannying going on, but there's also reasonable cause for concern that the slow start fits into a pattern.
Beat Huddersfield and a lot of people will calm down. Lose and it will definitely calm up.

Duff has a touchline ban as a result of his sending off at the weekend.

Bruce seems to be getting a tune out of Blackpool.

And everyone else seem to be getting something out of Huddersfield.

Re: Division Three, 2024/25
Think it was more to do with their goalkeeper that we didn't win rather than our attack being blunt. Sometimes keepers just have those days.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 10:38 amIt's certainly looking like we kept one of the early pacesetters much quieter than anyone else has yet. The game may have had a big impact on the season. Had we won it, we may have took positivity from it and kicked on and they may have reset their expectations and started a slide. As it was, they kicked on and we let the ghost of playoff past rear its ugly head and stink out the place.
Re: Division Three, 2024/25
High flying Reading look very likely to lose their manager, Ruben Selles, to Hull City over the coming days. Given the tremendous job he’s done there in trying circumstances, this can only be viewed as a positive for the clubs trying to dispose (edit: depose) them from the top six.

Aye, as you say Selles has done a superb job there under immensely trying circumstances. He was/is on Ghost's list for next Bolton manager when/if Evatt hops the twig. These things come and go, I suppose - such lists will always change as time moves on, although I doubt Selles will be replaced by his Tigers predecessor Tim Walter (no, me either).The_Gun wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 8:55 amHigh flying Reading look very likely to lose their manager, Ruben Selles, to Hull City over the coming days. I also noticed that Jon Brady resigned from Northampton this morning after being in charge for three and a half years.
Quite an unusual move, given that it presumably means he won’t get a payout.

The chairman's playing nice: "We will now work with Jon and the LMA [League Managers' Association] on his exit agreement."

Social media is awash with rumours that he was forced to quit after falling out with the assistant kit man

Re: Division Three, 2024/25
Oh yeah - literally hadn't looked that far down the league. This derby defeat leaves them just two points off the drop zone, 10pts off 6th, and an astonishing 19pts - only two fewer than they've managed all term - off 2nd.
Maybe they'll hire Grant McCann again.
Re: Division Three, 2024/25
Whilst it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, it seems very likely that Louie Barry, who’s probably the best player in the division, will be recalled from Stockport by Aston Villa and sent to a club playing at a higher level.
Good news for all those who would like to see County take a slide down the table.
