That Maxi (and other previous underachievers) played so eye-catchingly toward the end of the season is to Dalglish and Clarke's credit, but the debit is £100,000 a week for a player expected to be a benchwarmer once they've got Henderson alongside Gerrard etc.

I honestly couldn't tell you who Milan Jovanovic is, and he earns about £6m a year. Mind you, so do some bankers, and Jovanovic isn't (directly) f*cking my bank account, just LFC's.

With regards the Rodrigo transfer, why did City stump up £500k for that German fella about 17 seconds after we'd just signed him on a free? Why didn't they just sign him on a free in the first place? Or Newcastle parted with £8m for a player who Rangers themselves had obtained on a free recently?

The world of football transfers is bizarre, loads of clubs make silly losses on players they never really thought about.

I would also suggest that they have not made the full payment, it will be spread over a period of time, and Im guessing there'll be some appearance based clauses in there. All we'll be doing is picking up the remainder, and perhaps because we paid something for him last season (or his wages) thats where the missing £1m lies.

Hamman joined us then the following day Campo signed an extention. Hamman realised he wasn't going to get a regular game & so decided on the KFC accent bullshit to get himself out of here.

On the other stuff, the monied clubs consider 'scouting' to be a function of watching established players and good/middling clubs and then paying over the odds. Liverpool are at it now too. Not susptainable, but it feeds the medium sized clubs & should long-term encourage young players to come to the likes of us rather than bigger clubs who will never play them.

Tom is right, Cameron would 'improve our forward line' and folk are rightly aghast at that idea. It isn't saying much. Gonna have to aim a bit higher. £4m on an unproven, lightweight, up to now almost entirely end product-less kid is utter, utter madness. If we had 40million to spend maybe, but chhhhrrrrist.

Even if you did a straight comparison with Jerome and the resident forward line (Davies, Klasnic and Blake) he's only outscored Blake who's a peripheral player at best. So no I don't think he would improve the forward line, not in the slightest

And I certainly wouldn't say I was putting all my faith in Rodrigo either, but he's better than the Jerome option at £4m dearer

Let me get this straight, we are planning to spend 4m on a player to replace 2 we lost last year. The player in question could not oust either of the ones he is 'replacing' out of the side last year. That's a sign of progress if ever I saw one.....oh hang on........

He couldn't oust Sturridge because he was banging them in for fun and Coyle's highly unlikely to drop Davies who has provided the most assists this season. He wasn't likely to drop Elmander who did a job for us in midfield
