Just to confirm what Sponge said, Wenger has said on SSN conference that the offer was not £6m but a lot higher than that and that Phil Gartside is a gimp for posting a retweet and calling him a liar.

This coming from a man that said both Nasri and Cesc were going nowhere :)
Pfffft.

6.5m plus Pat Rice isn't my idea of "much higher".

We don't need to slag him off - plenty of Arsenal fans do that for us

wenger can rant and rave all he wants. The fact is little has gone right for him this summer and the pressure is on him. Time to cough up or shut up. Might even be too late already. what a complete cock he is. Hope this backfires on him which ultimately results in him losing his job done the road. What's he going to en to garty, throw a water bottle at him.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reacted angrily to suggestions from Bolton that his bid for their defender Gary Cahill was "derisory".

The Gunners' offer - reported to be £6m - was rejected by Wanderers and criticised by their boss Owen Coyle.

In addition, Trotters chairman Phil Gartside re-posted a message on Twitter from a Bolton fan angered by the bid.

"That number is completely wrong," said Wenger. "If Gartside can say I am lying I am ready to confront him."

The Frenchman added: "I believe every negotiation is between two parties and you only have to sell the player if you are all right with the price.

"In this case the information is below what has been spoken about.

"You can believe Gartside or you can believe me. It's not right. It's not the truth.

"The truth is that we never speak about our negotiations.

"If a club doesn't want to sell a player it can keep him. When we sign a player we come out here and tell you and keep the price a secret.

"They do not need to sell the player, they can keep him. If you ask do I want to buy your house and you are not happy with the price you say no, that's it.

"Why should you feel insulted? I don't understand. If the player is not for sale they can keep him. I don't understand the problem.

"If we want to buy the player we buy the player. I do not have to explain for how much."

What a nice person

Thinking about it, do you not think Coyle is being a bit of a dick with this bid?

Cahill in the last year of his contract. What were Coyle's words when we sold Taylor, "£2.2m is very good for someone in the last year of his contract." Something like that anyway. And I'm sure he mentioned something similar when we got Mears and Eagles who were also in the last years of their contracts. Jose Enrique was signed for £6m by Newcastle. He has just signed for £6m for Liverpool, with him being in the last year of his contract at Newcastle.

We are in dreamland if we want £17m. £10m tops.

Just keep him for that price.

We won't be able to replace him for less and relegation costs c. £40m.

Unless we're desperate for the cash there is absolutely no incentive for us to not just let him go in 12 months. And it would probably suit Cahill too, as he'll be able to negotiate a small fortune.

No he's not, he's just doing the right thing for BWFC which is in this case to extract as much cash from whoever buys Cahill as possible.

Take that back

what people forget is Arsenal have just made a shit load of money from player sales so that pushes the price up of any potentiol signings cus people know they got a few quid

not to mention Cahill is an england international (Zat knight don't count) who's been in alot of the recent england squads that also pushes the price up

plus The longer they leave it the price goes up further cus it leaves us little time to find a replacement

i think 10-13 mill is about right

Wenger called out your chairman saying he's lying about the bid and also made it clear he doesnt understand why anyone is being insulted. if i wanna buy your house I come to you and make an offer. if you dont like the offer you say no and thats it. This whole idea of putting pressure on Arsenal to bid much more by using the media is laughable. wenger is not easily influenced and will stick to his guns. Just think your chairman is being very unprofessional here and is making you look bad
