ACTUAL SIGNING

Toal signs.
Evatt:
"It’s been well documented how in-depth we are with our recruitment process and how we identity position specifics in players and if their attributes fit how we want them to play.

“Eoin ticks all of those boxes. He’s a young player with a huge amount of experience – albeit in a different division; captain of a top-division team in Ireland, who has played European football and who has vast attributes we feel we can improve on.

“We know he’s got good versatility and as coaches we feel we can still improve him and he will get time to settle.

“There’s no pressure on him to hit the ground running. It’s really a bigger project for us but we’re delighted to get it done and we think we’ve got a good one.”

My biggest takeaway from that reveal video were the fecking awful graphics in our changing room - 'Goals, Clean Sheets, Set Pieces'. Inspirational stuff there, lads.

Time for DSB to do one of his position coverage charts?
I think we now have League 1 quality cover for everyone except MJ

Brommers is better than me, and I have the toad work squatting upon me

Quickly though

Depends how you define L1 quality - I guess if we assume Toal is, we can now switch Aimson from covering RCB to covering Santos. We have six centre-backs now, including Gethin. (Senior wasn't losted in the, er, senior squad numbers, so let's count him as B team for now)

What we don't have is 6x CB plus 2x LWB, unless we count Sadlier as LWB cover and Isgrove as RWB cover

We've plenty of midfielders - especially once Sheehan is back - but no DM cover *unless* you count Morley, who played there at Carlisle but is demonstrably not the same as MJ - more quarterback than destroyer

I would like to think you could also count Johnston in that area too as he's played there before too.

Looks like Toal is a step closer to joining a massive club.

Truedat – although I'm yet to be fully convinced he could play there, it is an option.

We have several flexible players, which is great in terms of cover, but less good in terms of a nice neat squad diagram

In my mind, i'm considering 2 players per position and the MJ role clearly stands out as deficient in terms of depth of cover. Sure we can have Thomason, Johnston, etc. covering the position but these don't feel like solid solutions and given how pivotal that role could potentially be it's something we may be lacking in.

We're either not looking to strengthen that role on the basis that we have sufficient cover or we're yet to find the right player. I'd suspect that finding a top quality player to contest that position could be a game changer going forward.

Not a header in sight. Mind he does look a bit of a unit....Lots of passes which would've been called "long balls" when I were a lad.

I see that in the clip they've rhymed Spandau Ballet's 'Gold' with 'Toal', which is as well as as I still haven't a fecking clue as to the correct pronunciation of Eoin, or come to that - Oisín, or Tadhg, or Cillian, or Cian, or Darragh, or Fionn, or Cathal, or Senan, or Eoghan, or Odhran, or Donnacha, or Ruairi, or Colm, or Diarmuid, or Caolan, or Aodhan, or Daithi.

Can we go back to getting our players from Denmark again rather than from Ireland please? 'Per' was so much easier. :)
May the bridges I burn light your way

Not a player I know anything about and I've been too busy recently to have a proper look, but I'm glad to have one in.

Looks the part and we were prepared to part with a fee for him. You'd expect him to have to get to grips with things over the next season and that's not ideal for our supposed promotion push. We'll have to see how it goes.

The current staff at Bolton have a good record of positive signings so im confident we're onto a good one here. Given what Derry are saying it seems even better.

So hard to gauge how well we're doing comparatively against other teams in this league. No particular known commodities being signed just hopefully good scouting.
