I suppose it isn't so bad bad when your beating the teams in and around you. Oh wait Liverpool are one of those teams.

Not to be negative or have an I-told-you-so attitude, but I said (not on the forum) that we'd lose this game. I really didn't expect a win for some reason. I thought we weren't great against Chelsea who desperately needed a win and felt that today would be the same.

Going to watch the game highlights on football first later as haven't seen any action. More comments later.

First goal at Anfield since 2003 tells you it's not somewhere we should expect to get anything from. It's a tough place, and they've got quality players. That first goal of theirs was superb one-touch football.

All the injustices aside we did roll over for most of the second half, just like at Chelsea.

There is nowhere I would rather win than Anfield... so disappointing.

I thought both sides were pretty poor - it looked for a while as if both teams had agreed to go out for NYE to make it fair. Ok, so their first goal was a good one, but does Hodgson really believe that that was a good performance?

That was the first chance I have had to see us for a while and was very disappointed. There wasn't much evidence of the passing stuff i've enjoyed reading about. I'm guessing we missed Holden in this respect?

I wouldn't weigh in too heavily, but that was a tough debut for Alonso... pretty much everything they had came down our left. I'm not totally sure what his instructions were, because he came inside a lot to follow his man (usually Ngog). Anyway, whatever way you look at it, Robinson was sorely missed.

Anyway, still gutted... would love to have played them with Robsinon, Holden and Lee in the side, as I actually genuinely think we're a better side than them at full strength.

Anfield silent for 92 minutes as usual.

Oh, one more thing, can someone explain that Muamba song to the tune of 'Heartbeat' to me?

How the f*ck have that shower, and media daaaaarling Woy, taken 6 points of us this season.

Absolute joke.

Refs, cheating scousers, no bench, all of it a joke!!! Somewhere there is a rule.....thou shalt never garner anything off Liverpool at Anfield.

Bring on wiggggin!

Another example of referee/assistant decisions winning games it happens all the time now and without technology it will continue to happen. The sooner the likes of Blatter and Platini go and we get more technology friendly younger people in charge of football the better.

The wrong decisions are costing some clubs millions and it isn't balancing out across the season as there are still to many top club decisions being made and I include Liverpool as a club that the refs and the authorities want to see back at the top. Pretty exciting back and fourth today. The winner seemed to deflect off the defenders hip to Joe which is why it wasn't called offsides, I thought he was offsides too until they showed that.

Too bad Holden didnt play I like watching him.

We got what we deserved ... nothing.

For what it's worth, I think we generally defend very well. Knight was fantastic today.

But, our defence seems to have to do double the amount of defending that others mid-table teams do, because we can't maintain any possession.

Knight & co had to see out wave and wave of attack from almost the 30th minute onwards.

That will end up in goals, over a period of 90 minutes, no matter how well we defend.

And yes, their goal wasn't offside ... came off Elmander's hip.

I'm willing to bet that the linesman thought it came off Maxi Rodriguez' foot/leg in any case.

Just to clarify the offside law guys. Cole is in an offside position so:

Scenario 1. Elmander plays it to Cole whilst trying to hit ball out for corner, control it or pass back to keeper etc - Goal is good.

Scenario 2. Elmander is hit by ball crossed into Cole - Goal is not good. Correct decision is offside.

I haven't seen the goal yet but the fact that the ball was touched by Elmander is not the issue.

Games like this make me wonder why I bother caring about Football.

Offside goal* - Check
Handball, penalty turned down - Check
Torres hand to Cahill face, no booking - Check
Torres kicks ball away in anger, no booking - Check
Goal scored by player who shouldn't be on the pitch - Check

When the odds are that heavily stacked, why bother even showing up? Just put the kids out in future, take the fine and save it for a game the officials might let us have a chance in.

Utter c*nts.

*If you think the goal was onside because it nicked Elmo on the way through, you don't understand the offside rule.

Have to admit I was shocked Torres didn't get a card for his hand to face contact. Could easily have been a red, and to do it right under the referee should have been a yellow at the very least. No excuse by the ref what so ever. Clear demonstration of bias. You knew at that point we weren't going to get any breaks so expecting an offside to be called was a bit optimistic on our part.

It might have come off Elmander's hip but Elmo was definitely pushed onto the ball and therefore should've been a free kick to us

I thought that as well, but the game was at Liverpool. What do you expect?

Very disappointed that even Goals on Sunday didn't decide to show Torres putting his hands on Cahill's face, or kicking the ball away.

Biased media? Noooo.
