Re: Can Wanderers Mackem pay? - Official Match Thread
Frustrating thing is the problems we had under megson still exist. Too many games we don't turn up for too many pathetic performances and too many players who are inconsistent week on week. One or two around me are not renewing next year so there are plenty who are still getting disenfranchised! What's frustrating is PTs list isn't all that outlandish. But we have no hope of replacing all those players. We'll have to make do with our full backs and work on our midfield and up front. Mind as Gowling said on the radio our defence is wide open time and time again! Today also highlights how our awful away form is a bigger problem than is made our, probably cost us 8th and fail to beat Blackpool that could be bye bye to top ten finish. Can't rely on home form next season!

at home against a Sunderland reserve side we should have won comfortably
but far far too many didnt get anywhere near to earning their wages.
elmander can fcuk off for me right now
i also thought that there was a chance of seeing a worse full back pairing than Steinson and Robinson in opposition today - i was wrong
Robinson is truly woeful

BWFCI - reluctantly after much thought in recent weeks, I'm also not renewing next season I'll pick and choose the games I attend and will not renew unless we have a 'major' clearout of the deadwood (and believe me there is a lot of it...) and finally bring in some quality players worth paying to watch, because as I said in the previous post if they can't be arsed putting the effort in then neither can I. I'm not paying money to watch the 'very average' players that I listed (and I could have gone further and added more players to that list - but we would have had no one left !!....)

Terrible first half. Dreadful.
Better, much better, second half.
Didn't deserve to lose this game. Nor win it. Season just turning into drizzle - and that's a shame, given the delight it's offered on numerous occasions.

We have the smallest squad in the Premier League and according to OC we're also in the bottom three in terms of spending.
He inherited a team that was in the bottom three from Megson who spent a sizeable amount on some very average players, so the fact that we've spent much of this season in the top half is a minor miracle and in no small part down to OC's ability as a manager.
As disappointing as the last three results have been, the players have still overachieved this season and for those moaning about the end to the season, there are still two games to play...

And there was me thinking you were one of the 5,000 returnees now Megson had left.Peter Thompson wrote:BWFCI - reluctantly after much thought in recent weeks, I'm also not renewing next season I'll pick and choose the games I attend and will not renew unless we have a 'major' clearout of the deadwood (and believe me there is a lot of it...) and finally bring in some quality players worth paying to watch, because as I said in the previous post if they can't be arsed putting the effort in then neither can I. I see we've lost a few games recently so you've popped your head back above the parapet.

Sorry WtW...usually I agree with you, but you are wrong today. Sunderland were better in every department...a team that couldn't pull together enough players for a 5 a side match yesterday, with no strikers in the squad, scored twice against that shower of shit that masquerades as a football team. They bossed the first and outmanoeuvred us in the second.William the White wrote:Terrible first half. Dreadful.

Gone from being a very good season, to a good season with a hiccup, to a season where we will marginally improve on last seasons league position (we'll finish 12th) with an utter embarrassment, with possibly the biggest embarrassment in the history of the fa cup, and one where we have lost our most famous son. The spineless lot out there now are not fit to lace loftys boots...
I do feel for Coyle, he can't change 8 or 9 players like he needs to, he'll have to work with cart horses like Muamba and Steinsson, deadwood like Davies and Robinson, for a while yet...we just don't have the luxury. The capitulation and red carpet we roll out to teams when they need it most is the biggest embarrassment and what hurts the most...here sunderland, not won since 1911? Have 3 points! Hey Blackburn, looking like being relegated, have 3 points! Stoke? never been to a cup final? have 5 goals!!
I wouldn't be upset if we got rid of the lot of 'em.....probably knee jerkism but its yet another saturday ruined! ITs the lack of fight that gets me, after Wembley they should of rolled sleeves up and played like their lives depended on it...instead they turn up for one match and feck off on holiday.

Agree wholeheartedly.Lofthouse Lower wrote:This is still largely Megson's team, and instead of battling relegation we're in the top half. With the right investment we could move in the right direction.
Things are SO much better than 18 months ago. People need to give over with the knee-jerk reactions.
We had the best month's results we've had in about 35 years in November.
We've been to a semi final.
We're in the highest league position since Allardyce left.
We were safe at Easter - which is always a good target - and one we've managed to achieve about 4 times in 41 years.
And people are complaining. They should go and support Man U. Perhaps then their unrealistic aspirations will be realised.
Yes, we were shite against Stoke and shite again today - we didn't deserve anything today so I'm certainly not complaining about the result. But for fcuks sake get a grip of reality.

BL3 that's actually an understatement on your behalf.....as admittedly I'm rarely positive !BL3 wrote:More positive than you'll ever be.Peter Thompson wrote:And you are...?BL3 wrote: Why? There's nothing constructive in yours.
Anyway believe it or not I've not come on here to wind anyone up or be confrontational - far from it, I just wanted to post an opinion, so on that note I'll leave you in peace as I don't want to create any cyber arguments - its still been a reasonable season just very frustrating over the past few weeks

It has been a better season.
There are players to clear out - it won't be as many as you want (near the end of every season you name at least 6 first team regulars) - on this occasion I think they'll probably end up keeping us in the top half.
For a club of our size and resources, being the 10th (or above) Club in England is no mean feat. Getting to an FA Cup semi is a bonus.
If you're expecting much more, support someone else.
Re: Can Wanderers Mackem pay? - Official Match Thread
Think I heard someone say that they weren't going to renew their season ticket unless we make a lot of changes in the summer...as someone who has been to mostly away games this season I would have loved to have had a season ticket this year! Having seen us win 10 times and lose only 3 it seems great value for money.
