Re: Day of Destiny/Doomsday: Stoke away
I know it probably means cock all but
QPR's only 3 away wins came at Everton, Wolves and .... Stoke.
We've beaten Everton and Wolves. Match QPR's 3 and a Man City win and I'll be a happy wanderer.

and theres the fact that the game at the reebok, where we are traditionally shit now, was their biggest loss of the seasonDJBlu wrote:I know it probably means cock all but

Re: Day of Destiny/Doomsday: Stoke away
Yes exactly. I keep mentioning this concept of being results orientated. If he constantly makes wrong decisions over the course of time our results will show him making wrong decisions. And over this long spell(his time in charge) they've shown that. One away win at Stoke doesn't mean the 4-4-2 formation, subs and decisions were right. Hell even three wins a row doesn't.thebish wrote:Dr.Karl wrote:
All this talk of 4-5-1/4-2-3-1 is redundant. Barring injuries we all know he'll start the same shape and side as he did against West Brom. Might not be the worst ploy in the world in this situation, opening up and stretching the game so we might fluke the first goal. These won't be the reasons for Coyle using this formation though......
so if he gets it right - it's for the wrong reasons??
I remember you comparing the two Wigan results. We played our expansive 4-4-2 in both games, won one 3-1 and got comprehensively beaten at home to much derision on these boards. Most the complaints came from him changing the shape that had worked so well for a number of games. We didn't look like conceding bucketloads and weren't isolated going forward but yet in his considerable wisdom he changed shape for some unknown reason. It played right into Wigan's hands that day.
You said why did it work there and not at our place? Maybe the ball broke better for us that day, some of their players had an off day. Who knows. Even though we won he didn't make the right decisions that day imv. I'm sure he doesn't know what decisions are correct or why he tactically continues with this 4-4-2. My point is there is no logic behind it, no reasoning and in the long run that'll sting you but along the way we might get an unexpected result or two.
Football is a series of chaotic events that no one can predict. A bobble, a wrong decision or injuries during the game can greatly affect the result. How do you ride that chaos out? By picking the best shape and team possible and sticking to a solid game plan. Allardyce epitomised this.

Re: Day of Destiny/Doomsday: Stoke away
One final plea from me, which I'm aware is tedious. Does anyone have an away end spare going? I will check out the home options later. And yes, I should've got one sorted sooner. But I didn't!
Anyway - excitement is knocking on my door at the moment. I felt so down on Sunday that I thought I'd given up. I hadn't. Even if we'd won we would have had to go to Stoke and go for the win, because we may have needed all 3 points. Effectively, nothing's changed on this front. And we are capable of beating Stoke.
There's that horrible feeling of hope again.

Darren Pratley back in training. Sordell/Tuncay/Wylde/Robinson also there (for those interested) but sure I read NRC/Mark Davies are to be given a few days off n rightly so.

I'd imagine NRC would be missed on the training ground, but it's more important that he's well rested and fighting fit for match day

Wouldn't surprise me if the rabble-rouser turned up anyway to watch. Does he live in the area?boltonboris wrote:I'd imagine NRC would be missed on the training ground, but it's more important that he's well rested and fighting fit for match day

Local Conny Club's going to be heaving. I'd better get there early and get a few on board to (a) numb the pain, or (b) start the party good and early.Owen'sEleven wrote:Me too.gemchris1977 wrote:I rang up Stoke and they had sold out

And, judging by the glacier mint advert, foxes too.
The dirty bear.
No crying in football, by the way. It isn't done. Apart from West Ham fans and Joe Cole.
