Very proud of the lads today. They worked exceptionally hard and with a rub of the green we'd have won comfortably.
The defence were solid with Moxey and Prince, in particular, outstanding. Wilson I thought had a tough day but he's not going to be up against that sort of quality every week.
I hope all the Danns and Feeney haters are giving their heads a shake this evening. Danns held it together in the middle of the park and we looked far more dangerous once Feeney came on. Mark Davies disappeared for the second game running and Clough looks like a shadow of the lad from last season. Madine actually played very well, penalty aside, but he's crying out for an ALF a like up front with him.

Danns played well. Not fair to say Davies disappeared. Lennon just picked the wrong midfield and it didn't suit Mark Davies at all.Harry Genshaw wrote:Very proud of the lads today. They worked exceptionally hard and with a rub of the green we'd have won comfortably.

I thought it was a fairly good game and there were plenty of positives for Bolton. First off, I would like to say that the shots stat is a bit misleading. Madine probably had ten shots but not many were good chances. There were plenty of crosses into the box that Madine won but in no way could they be deemed 'missed shots' as he did well to get his head to it. The penalty was dreadful and he took the ball off Silva who looked keen to take it.
This is my first game this season and the biggest difference I can see is our defence. Much more solid than last season. All of them.
My player scores.
Amos - 7 He didn't have much to do in all honesty but had little chance with the goal. What he did he did well.
Wilson - 8 Did well to keep Antonio quiet all game. This restricted his forward runs.
Dervite - 8 Looks much more confident now he doesn't have to play alongside Mills. Good game.
Prince - 9* My man of the match. Commanding performance. Quick, good in the air, excellent tackler and looks like he can pass. Really good prospect especially considering his age.
Moxey - 8 Another good performance from the left back. Looks a completely different player from last season.
Danns - 7 Worked hard defensively and tried to get forward. Limited ability but tries his balls off.
Davies - 6 Played alongside Danns rather than in front of him. Looked better late on when he pushed further forward.
Silva - 6 Looked lively in the first half but didn't see enough of the ball. Spent quite a bit of time on the floor but it was hard to tell if he was being fouled or diving (looked like the latter to me but I was on the upper tier so hard to see)
Walker - 5 I like him but nothing seemed to come off for him today
Clough - 5 Couldn't find any room or perhaps being closely marked. Didn't do enough throughout the game
Madine - 7 A real handful for any defender this season. Won virtually every header and held the ball up fairly well. Should have scored the penalty and he looks like he needs the goal for his confidence.
Feeney - 7 Added much needed urgency into the game got his crosses in.
Heskey and Dobbie - Didn't really have a lot of time between them. Dobbie took goal well from just outside the box (did it take a deflection or was the keeper unsighted. He didn't even move).
What disappointed me today was their right back got booked in the first half. I expected us to attack down that side by getting the ball to Silva to attack him. It didn't really happen.
Overall an enjoyable game but I am disappointed we didn't come away with all three points.

Just back in and in that showing, I think we'll be fine this season, not title contenders but Ok. The back four were excellent and we've still got Deryck and Pisano to come in. We can't say we are lacking creativity, we just need to convert the chances we get.

Erm it was shit, but hopefully the late goal is a platform with which to build on. Good to see Dougie hasn't changed, taking a striker off for a full-back with five to go and conceding anyway. Shithouse.
They had both Lansbury and Antonio playing. Tidy footballers who'd walk into our lot.
Do, I wanted a win. We're settling half a new team in and we're still struggling to score but I'm not getting the sharp objects out.
yeah - but, Bobo - Freedman is their manager - are you suggesting they can be any good at all? if so - it's at odds with your other posts!

when did mavis last have a game-changing impact?
Re: Might we see some wood for the trees? - Forest (H) 22/08
I'm back and enjoyed it, that goal was like a mill stone being removed from around our necks.
I liked Davies today, he looks so good on the ball, so natural. He put himself about as well.
What was with the forest scummer fan running on the pitch?

To suggest Forest have a better group of players than we do is a nonsense. Antonio is good. Lansbury yes. But they aren't and weren't very good.thebish wrote:yeah - but, Bobo - Freedman is their manager - are you suggesting they can be any good at all? if so - it's at odds with your other posts!bobo the clown wrote:Clearly it is.plymouth wanderer wrote:Is it inconceivable to think that we may have nullified them??BWFC_Insane wrote:Pretty much how I see it. These are the sides we need to beat at home.

So I've said it's impossible he could inherit some decent players .... or even buy/loan a couple ?thebish wrote:bobo the clown wrote:Clearly it is.plymouth wanderer wrote:Is it inconceivable to think that we may have nullified them??BWFC_Insane wrote:Pretty much how I see it. Nnnnnnnnope. Me neither.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Might we see some wood for the trees? - Forest (H) 22/08
Just a sobering thought that came to me earlier. The appalling challenge on Prince in the dying minutes came from Tyrone Walker, son of Des, England caps over 50. Matt Mills, a poorer than average centre back has in the last 2 seasons, earned more than I bet Walker senior did throughout his entire career. That's where football is.

it just doesn't add up to me... dougie is supposed to be shoite in the transfer market, a shoite manager with no clue who ruins teams and players by his shoiteness, bad management and poor team set-up (I take it you're not disputing any of that?) and yet it is suddenly a good result to get a draw against his team at home (having lost at his gaffe last season)? Surely he's been at Forest long enough now to have turned the to utter shoite? no?
Dougie has gone - this isn't really about him anymore - now it's about Lenny and our future.
I think Lenny will do well for us - but it will take more time and patience than many hoped...

Re: Might we see some wood for the trees? - Forest (H) 22/08
Doesn't matter who manages Forest they are not great, young lad up front for them today barely had a kick. Antonio is decent, Lansbury is decent. But even those two aren't world beaters.
Point against Derby is good, against Forest, at home purely as a result is poor.
And whilst Lennon might be the right man for us, his results have been decidedly worse than (say) Rowetts at at Brum who took over in a similar position to Lennon here.
He had injuries last season and I think everyone is being patient. But again today Lennon didn't pick the right team and once again the result is missing. Credit to him for good changes from the bench that improved us. And his positivity is good.
But he needs to start showing tactical awareness that takes us to wins. Yes we missed a penalty but we are dressing up ok performances as good ones. We didn't create much today. Our pattern of play is still hoof it up the middle. Madine gets so little service and Clough looks like he hasn't got a clue what he's doing.
Young Vela sits on the bench, supposedly the man to glue our midfield together. And Danns and Davies try hard all match not to be overrun. It is actually very frustrating because finally we have a solid base. And credit to Lennon for that as well. He's done so much right, but we need to dominate midfield, and aren't and we need to find a way to attack teams with some sort of pattern rather than just hit and hope crosses and long balls.

I'm still trying to be positive about Lenny - despite the results - otherwise it'll be a very long and gloomy season... where there's no hope...
it HAS to be a good thing that we're getting as far as actually having shots - even if they do miss the barn door!!
Vela on the bench is a mystery to me, though...

Just out if interest BWFCi, where did he get the team selection wrong?? Given the players available, it's the 11 I would have gone with and worldie goal apart, would have given us 3 points. Vela was awful on Tuesday night.
Lansbury and Antonio are in their way out of Forest, so I suspect DF will struggle this season.

Midfield. We didn't have nearly enough control. We still could have won if Madine had scored the penalty. So could Forest if Antonio had scored his one on one.Bijou Bob wrote:Just out if interest BWFCi, where did he get the team selection wrong??
