The back three were excellent btw, really good. Organised and solid.
I thought JDC and Schon had one of their better games. Schon particularly with the 2nd goal.
JDC was making runs into space and not holding his run and cutting back.
I think Dempsey was great today and is my contender for MOTM. That shot onto the bar was going in as it looks like their keeper saved it.

I think has replied directly to one of the idiots then maybe there might have been a little sympathy. I also believe she's the one dealing with the issues at home and this was the straw that broke the camels back.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 9:33 pmThat covers most who post on Twitter or whatever it’s called.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 9:29 pmGiven that most of the ones who really dig into him are reposters of Farage and EDL stuff I'd be willing to take a stab at possible motives...
However she is reacting to someone who at least in the post she replies to isn’t abusing anyone….
An apology to the individual might go a long way as people now know that he's struggling with the pressure from the minority of our fans.

Back three didn’t put a foot wrong today. Best they’ve been this season.DJBlu wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 9:37 pmThe back three were excellent btw, really good. Organised and solid.

Not sold on either wing back as wing backs tbh. Schon did well for the second but he’s not enough of an outlet yet for me. JDC had one of his better games but still doesn’t do as well going forward as a wing back needs to in this system.
Tough to pick a man of the match. Demps drifted in and out for me. If he’d scored one of those it’d be Charles. Toal and Johnston may be shouts? Ironically santos probably today.

Think I pretty much predicted all of this: Evatt wouldn't be sacked and we'd sacrifice Arsenal for Crawley. Just putting out there.

Looks like one of the feck* has been named and shamed. Probably same set of dickheads who sent abuse to Evatts kids.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 10:38 pmA little more understanding of everyone's humanity wouldn't go amiss, no.
I still think Mrs Santos is wrong for engaging, and they need to understand it’s a minority (could even be fans of another team!). Shame though, don’t see it ending well.

Yes, but I find it hard to be critical of a woman defending her husband.
It may not be the wisest thing to have done, but it is absolutely understandable.
The fact the dickheads are loving it and piling in just shows what players and staff have to deal with on an almost daily basis.

Kev Davies's wife set a trend in motion on the perils of husband defending. Lesson's should have been learned, but the difference between "some" and "all" is ever alive. Up to Ric to show some sense and ignore, hard though it may be.

Pretty unsurprising that there's some folks out there who think it's a good idea to engage directly with our players. I'd probably hit my SM off switch.
Re: London Crawleying. An away Clash with Crawley Town, Sat 28th of Sept. 12-30.
Might be a wise idea for Santos to have a sit down chat with Super John to see how he managed to become a legend and stay a legend.
We all want Santos to do well but if he's coming out bemoaning the fans attitude towards him it's only going to further the divide between him and the fans.
There's a minority that will criticise and I'm fairly certain Santos will take the brunt of playing out from the back when it's not up to him to decide whether to hit it long or not in some situations.

I’m afraid that there are two things that would be barriers. One is SJM obviously was a top goalscorer and in many ways the exact sort of player every fan at the time in 90’s football adored. Secondly attitude. Super John loved the club and whatever faults he had would run himself into the ground for it week in week out. Thomason like I guess. But that is rare nowadays. Most footballers have at best apathy and worst disdain for the clubs, teams and towns they represent. It’s a two way thing to an extent but you couldn’t imagine Super John playing a final at Wembley like this lot did. Not in a million years. He might have lost but never like that.Mar wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2024 6:33 pmMight be a wise idea for Santos to have a sit down chat with Super John to see how he managed to become a legend and stay a legend.

But I also think it’s broader. Football is so transactional now. There aren’t the same stories. You go back to Rioch and that era and people still talk about it today. They still reminisce about events, games and times. And those three years were and are the stuff of legend. Not just because we had two promotions and many giant killings but because it felt like something special - something that lifted the club out of its pit of despair and raised everyone’s aspirations. But also because football I think was just more special. The stories more special. The game now is a series of transactions and ever more moving away from the sort of spirit and beauty of story and towards a never ending conveyor belt of the same over exposed almost scripted entertainment.
We all laughed at the Mitchell and Webb sketch. I’m not sure that they were wrong.

I don't really have much of a gripe about what the players did at Wembley. They did what I'd expect them to do under Brand Evatt. As he said we'd thought about the gameplan. Unfortunately so had Oxford. It left poor Ric, looking round for someone to pass to. They're not going to play like SJM. They're not built like that nor are they coached like that. It's not what we do. I don't doubt Santos commitment to the Club or the way he plays. Never really struck me as a natural skipper.

We don’t know that play design looked like. You thought it was a bad pass, I thought it was Thomason overrunning the ball.irie Cee Bee wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 6:37 pmIt wasn't his best game but I thought he did ok. That yellow card was set up by Ade's dreadful pass (one of many) behind him. He had to tackle or the player was gone and him out of position. That's on Ade. As Captain, 2 from 2 wins I reckon. Not bad.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 5:54 pmI thought that the only player who disappointed a little today was Thomasson, he was quite poor in most things today passing, possession, tackling - he actually looked a bit lost and his booking was silly. I'm not sure that the captaincy is helping him personally.
I think it’s obvious they weren’t on the same wavelength but not sure we can pin the blame on Vic either

Things like this never end well. I think he’ll be gone in January unfortunately. Maybe his wife’s been on here and seen him branded a “disgrace” and “terrible person” for having a couple of bad gamesBertie Wooster wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 7:30 pmRico's Mrs having a spat on twitter tonight - basically confirming that he's bit annoyed with the fans criticism hence not clapping the fans at FT, this is a two way thing for me - yes some fans went way over the top with criticism of him, but he should also know that loads of fans like and really rate him (its just a few twitter idiots having a dig since Wembley).
I'm not sure she should be arguing with fans, but that means that its obviously upset him - someone at the club needs to have a word with Rico because this stand off needs to end. most if not all fans that I know (me included) are Santos fans, he's our best defender by some distance.

I have little sympathy if she pops on a football forum...I think that's different to posting on his/Club's SM...boltonboris wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 8:12 amThings like this never end well.
