One manager managed that game. The other watched the game happen.
Infuriating to lose despite having played so much better. Extra man in midfield was crucial, but we didn't take our chances, and then Evatt utterly failed to react to a triple Charlton sub that changed the game.
Two sloppy goals to concede too.

A tough one to take. Games like that happen. In isolation you’d shrug and say shit happens, but we played ok.
But it’s not in isolation is it. I’m encouraged by a much better performance, an extra man in midfield and creation of more chances, but I’m frustrated that the players looked tired and leggy 15 minutes before any subs were made and pissed off that when the game got tetchy and a bit more physical, that’s when we lost it.
We are too soft. In too many areas.
Schön and Sheehan were the best players on the pitch. Randall scored which is great. Did very little else. Needs to start working harder for the team or he’ll be getting pelters soon

We are so soft defensively - 41 goals conceded after 26 games is abysmal. For context, that’s 5 more goals than we conceded in the whole of the 22/23 season. There’re still 20 games to go this season
Get Sam Hird back, pay him whatever he wants.

...and we've already lost more league games than last season. It's January. And we have a negative goal difference.brommers95 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 11:04 pmWe are so soft defensively - 41 goals conceded after 26 games is abysmal. Aye the sun Schon and kept on Sheehaning for most of the game. I reckon Randall will be fine when he gets used to the frantic pace of Division One.boltonboris wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 10:56 pm

Very late (or on-existent) club post-match has a lot of people hopeful he's gone after that.
Iles openly speculating about it.

Does feel like he sets up a game on Football Manager and then walks away to have dinner, doesn't it?truewhite15 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 10:48 pmOne manager managed that game. The other watched the game happen.
Any chance he saved at the start of the season and we can reload?

Maybe due to the delay in the game resulting in a later finish and staff needing to get home before editing a video?GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 12:36 amVery late (or on-existent) club post-match has a lot of people hopeful he's gone after that.

I mean I wouldn’t ask low paid media staff to stay late after a defeat by Charlton.
However I can see a massive issue looming. Looking at pictures the true crowd last night might well be under the 10K mark. What do they do about season ticket renewals which they surely would want to launch about now? In this atmosphere that’s an issue. My guess is Sharon would wait till march and if it looks like little prospect of top 6 make a call then. I don’t think she can sell tickets with Evatt in charge - as a league one club.

Bolton News now reporting it as a done deal.

The right decision. Now another very important decision to be made regarding his replacement.

Crainey & Atherton also need to go.
The club must have their eye on his replacement & we need to make the appointment soon to give them the remaining week of the transfer window.
