You're only getting a half for this one, sunshine.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Jeezus, we're in the championship, we're going to need bodies. Can't imagine he's costing us owt. Big Sam got all his old boys together for a promotion push. I'd be happy to sign every-bastard-and-the-tea-lady from Burnley if it gets us up.
He is one of his old boys, isn't he?

We still need players for the bench, reverse games, the reverse bench etc.. Not everyone we sign goes straight into the first team, so there's no need to be disappointed by this signing. I think it's stretching it a bit to have a go at Coyle because of a signing like this.

If/when Mavies goes what's our centre-mid looking like? Andrews+1? Who's the 1? Pratley, Vela, McKee? Any news on Holden?
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Bench? We have enough to fill both benches, most of the Directors box, and a fair amount of the stand.SmokinFrazier wrote:We still need players for the bench, reverse games, the reverse bench etc.. Hmm i dunno...Burnley reserve reject.
I want to believe.
After all, 'he's young and fits in with the Coyle blueprint'
Still,we already know Coyle isnt some magician of a coach who can coax the absolute best out of players, so what does he think he can do that the Burnley lot or St.Mirren lot can't?
Arrogance maybe? Surely not...
Is there nobody of similar ilk in our own reserves or academy who would be better to make the step up?
Anyway - judgement will be reserved.

Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
The problem I have with this, is that it'll be our 4th player (and god knows how many moderate Championship back-room staff) signing from Burnley. A team that finished 6th? - And lets be honest, the wheels looked fairly wobbly when he joined us - When Coyle got them up via the play-offs. Hardly a blueprint for repeatable success.
If you'd told me when Coyle joined us, that a couple of seasons later, we'd have signed 4 Burnley players, I'd have suggested you needed your head testing.

Which i would be fine with if he was half as good as a coach as he thinks he is, after all untapped talent is all around us, and no doubt the Holden example will be rolled out. Sometimes there's a fit...between potential, club, timing, positional shift...but it's asking a lot for this to happen for me on this occasion.Worthy4England wrote:The problem I have with this, is that it'll be our 4th player (and god knows how many moderate Championship back-room staff) signing from Burnley. Exactly. Job done. Whichever pin you want to dance round the head of, Allardyce got both ourselves and West Ham up through the Play Offs. Thats the goal, the only goal, and I'd settle for the same.Worthy4England wrote: A team that finished 6th? When Coyle got them up via the play-offs. .

Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
This signing was never going to change people's minds.
He's a teenager. I doubt we're paying him the earth, so it's low-risk. Coyle knows him and must think he has potential. It's a touch hysterical to start parping on about nepotism. Bruce Rioch signed half a dozen players he'd worked with before, including Keith Branagan, who was on a free (pre-Bosman) because he couldn't displace Aidan frigging Davison. Then we signed Aidan frigging Davison...
True, Rioch proved himself right (in the main), and Coyle hasn't. I have several reservations about our manager - in rough descending order: his tactical intransigence; his coaching (staff?); his ability to spend transfer money wisely. But I won't be daubing the linen just because he's taken a tiny punt on a teenager he rates.
But like I say: This signing was never going to change people's minds. Bigger issues await resolution.

Not true, the goal is to win the Championship, although promotion by the Play-offs would be fine too.
That is of course "in my opinion"

I can generally do better than "a touch hysterical"Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:This signing was never going to change people's minds.

Like you say, not to fussed about this signing. Just surprised that he's managed to find 4 signings all from Burnley.

This guy has been signed to play in the reserves according to Nixon and won't see the first team. A 'prospect'.
