Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
Its amazing we're not top of the league considering the number of players elsewhere who are "not good enough for us".
Unless we have a magic transfer pot of 30M plus, then in the words of Theo Paphitis we're going to have to take the "odd punt".
I don't for one minute believe we're interested in Nile Ranger, and I'm not even suggesting him, but for 1M that would be the "kind" of punt on a younger player I imagine we'll be looking to take. Obviously he's got some ability but then he hasn't applied himself and obviously is not ideal in terms of behaviour etc. But the same kind of things may well apply to Sturridge in some ways although Sturridge is undoubtedly at a higher level. But if Sturridge isn't coming back, or even if he is, we'll still need some other options. Ranger or someone like him COULD be the sort of player who would respond to Coyle and improve his game here. I do think we'll have to sign a few players who people say "he's shit" automatically, but if they're at the younger end with talent that has not been developed quite yet then we'll have to take the odd risk I guess.

Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
So, assuming we get Sturrige (big assumtion) is Ranger a better option than an emerging Roderigo considering we have Davies and Klasnic as front men to call on? For me the midfield is totally critical if OC is going to change the style of play. See, 4-4-2 and 4-5-1 don't mean that much to me because professional footballers should at least be able to swap and mix as needed without "plans" which rarely cover much. A good central defender to replace Cahill and a defence that keep more clean sheets and the rest doesn't need that much fixing. Players doing their jobs has always worked for us, it's when they don't that we come unstuck.

Regarding young Mr Ranger ... acoording to the meeja apparently we are in competition with Millwall for him !!
Can't comment on his football ability, but I'm not sure OC will be interested in the 'Gangsta' shite he thinks is cool.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I'm not hugely keen on Ranger, but then it wasn't that long ago I wouldn't have been hugely keen on us signing Andy Carroll.
I'm indifferent to it to be honest. I don't think he's very good, but £1million is nothing.

On the plus side if Ranger started with any of that gun shit at Bolton, Paul Robinson would soon be doing some Gangsta' Trippin'.

Bolton transfer news: Wanderers bidding £7million for Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara
Jun 19 2011 by Alan Nixon, The People
Bolton boss Owen Coyle is making a stunning £7million swoop for Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
Coyle has been backed by owner Eddie Davies and has put together a package to bring the star of Spain’s European Under-21 finals side to the Reebok.
But the crucial factor in Bolton’s offer will be a buy-back clause that will give the European champions the option of taking Alcantara, 20, back to Spain in a few years.
The deal would give Bolton a top young player and let him play every week in the Premier League with the knowledge he will hopefully return to the Nou Camp a battle-hardened, more complete player.
Alcantara dazzled against England and the Czech Republic last week but he will not be in Pep Guardiola’s side this season and was offered around to other clubs in recent weeks.
Trotters chairman Phil Gartside is on standby to meet Barca’s hierarchy this week as he tries to complete an unlikely deal for a player who has also been linked to the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal.
Alcantara’s father and agent, Mazinho, recently dismissed reports of a part-exchange deal with Arsenal when he said: “His future is at Barcelona.”
But Alcantara has now suggested he would be ready to move on if Guardiola is unwilling to offer him regular first-team football in the coming season.
When asked if he would still be at Barca next season, he said: “I don’t know. I have a two-year contract.
“For now I’m only thinking about winning the Under-21 Championship, and securing my place in the 2012 Olympic team.
“I would be lying if I said that my dream is to succeed at Barca. My dream is to succeed in football.” Coyle is desperate to pull off Mission: Impossible 3 after landing Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere and Daniel Sturridge in similar circumstances. He tried for Alcantara a year ago – as People Sport revealed.
Bolton were hoping to buy him for around £5m, but his impact in the tournament has pushed up his value.
Now they have the new idea of a scheme that may appeal to all parties.

..and again..
http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Bo ... 49124.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
transfer fee starting to look a bit more realistic now, which could eventually price us out the market..however (surprisingly) we seem to be the only team seriously linked to the lad
although we're still rather short of options on the striking front i dont think i'm the only one that would much rather us splash out on thiago over that jerome fella from birmingham. sturridge on loan + another (ranger, bothryod etc.) would see for a fantastic summer of spending.
on another note we we're also linked with sergio canales (a player in pretty much the same mould as thiago) last season but nothing came of it, this however seems to have a lot more about it rather than just the usual paper talk..

With this buy back clause in his contract, I honestly believe we have a great chance of getting him. He says he wants to succeed at Barcelona, so with us putting a buy back clause in the contract it could persuade him to sign for us and play well, knowing there will be a good chance that Barcelona will sign him back in a couple of years and play him.
The only other clubs that are being linked are Arsenal and Chelsea and there isn't a cat in hells chance they will put a buy back clause into his contract.

ayee i agree about the buy back clause but still can't understand why they don't just loan him to us?? even that would be a great bit of business by owen.

Because they want money to buy Alexis Sanchez and Giuseppe Rossi. Apparently Guardiola only has £45m to spend this summer and that won't be enough to buy both of them.

Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
Definitely. If all this is true, then it would put us in pole position to sign him. From what I've read in the spanish media, Barcalona don't really want to let go of him but will do for decent money, so by them having decent money for him plus a buy back clause that other clubs won't offer, then it stands us in good stead.Rodney Trotter wrote:With this buy back clause in his contract, I honestly believe we have a great chance of getting him. Spanish press reporting that Thiago has a 10m Euro buy-out clause in his contract, that increases to 20m as of 30th June
Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
Could work, depends on the buy-back clause.
If it's the same as we paid, then it's in theory a 2 season loan.
As long as it isn't less than the initial fee, sounds like a good deal to me!

Brown's Britain, innit
Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
In today's The Mirror (Don't know if this is a Nixon exclusive) that we are to go for Mears again from Burnley. I know we were linked with him in January so it may just be old news or perhaps our new third choice centre half.
Bolton manager Owen Coyle is poised to raid old club Burnley with a £400,000 move for Tyrone Mears.
Do not trust atoms. They make up everything.
