Taylor started his career at left back and as far as I remember the only reason he got shifted into midfield at Pompey was because of all the cracking goals he scored.

Yes but he is well out of practice at left back. He will be rusty at best.hi there, i'm chris wrote:Taylor started his career at left back and as far as I remember the only reason he got shifted into midfield at Pompey was because of all the cracking goals he scored.

Oh yeah he will be rusty, but I've always thought if he had to revert to left back then it wouldn't be a problem, in fact I'm surprised it's not happened as much. Think I recall it happening just the once towards the end of a match.

Well its gonna be a bit risky either way, let's hope someone can step up to the challenge. Be that Taylor or Alonso. I don't know who else could play there?
I'm fairly sure Samuel is still out with his knee.

Ricketts can also play left-back.

Yes, but the point was that we've both Knight and Robbo missing. So Ricketts will be playing CB.t_o_molloy wrote:Ricketts can also play left-back.

But who fills in for Knight in the center then?t_o_molloy wrote:Ricketts can also play left-back.
I can see Ricketts playing alongside Cahill, Steinsson getting a chance to reclaim his RB spot, and who knows for LB. Would be truly interesting to see Alonso for once although I remember the comments about him after his debut did not instill much confidence...
Re: Petrov, isn't it entirely possible that he was upset about his disallowed goal as he was coming off? I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt in this situation, although it really didn't look good at the time.

Is it confirmed Robbo is out? Nothing cam up on the screen suggesting he would miss the next one

Do we know if either Knight or Robinson are definitely out?

Doesn't matter because we only need 10 men.

They're dirty, they're filthy, they're never gonna last.

Re: Players transformed under Coyle.
For me this game was a microcosm of our improvement under Coyle's management. Acts of random idiocy have been the norm in the games against Blackburn: the 97 penalties given away, the 14 red cards, the infamous Vaz Te slip, the Ricketts OG, pissing away a 2-0 lead . . . we saw that again with the M. Davies sending off and the late equalizer. But what was different today is that we didn't collapse as we would have under Megson or maybe even Allardyce. We went right back up and scored again, and it's fitting that it was a Coyle player who got the winner.

I've checked the Sky stats and I think Robbo is definitely out, although I think Knight still may have one card to go to miss a week. Could be wrong though!

Very good today - but, for me, first time in ages. Spends most of his time, pointing to other people to go do his tackling, whilst backing off, because he's a bit shit at timing tackles.BWFC_Insane wrote:Robinson is as good a left back as we'll get.
He was outstanding today. Outstanding.
Re: Players transformed under Coyle.
Yes Taylor was moved to mid field because of his goal scoring ability but it was combined with his poor ability defending.

He's a proper defender. Backs away a little bit too much sometimes but overall I think he's solid. If he had pace he'd not be here!

Re: Players transformed under Coyle.
Always liked Robinson and the players seem to really like him too. Great for morale and a battler on the pitch. Well worthy of his shirt. PLUS, he gets Man of the Match quite a lot!

Re: Players transformed under Coyle.
Robinson is a great player. He does his fair share of organising at the back, which is what sets him aside from steiner and ricketts. We will miss his presence if he misses a game through suspension... Always seems to come away with one of those tackles that could be a potential red card. I still haven't worked out if it's skill or complete luck. He crunched someone in the dying moments yesterday. I was surprised to see him getting so far forward in the early parts of the first half yesterday. I thought to myself that if Robbo is even getting forward we're set to score another five. Obviously didn't last though!

Re: Players transformed under Coyle.
Thought Robinson was very poor in the first half, but some of his towering headers and MASSIVE tackles were amongst the highlights of the second half.
Would still like a new left-back though. That should also end the debate on Steinsson (for now) - Ricketts is streets ahead.

Also he wasn't booked yesterday so is still on 4 yellows, Knight is on 4 too.
No suspension yet for either of them as far as I know.
