Re: Do we need to worry?
Indeed if we are going through our inevitable "slump" or "poor period" and we're getting 1ppg still then we're not doing too badly in my book.thebish wrote:which is what megson achieved over his entire stay - and kept us up... 1ppgFaninOz wrote: Over the last 7 games we have only won 2 and drawn one for a meagre 7 points.
coyles ppg for thios season so far is 1.36 - which is very respectable indeed
on that average we can expect to garner 9.5 points over the next 7 games.
Re: Do we need to worry?
also - we have reached january - and our goal difference is in the black! it is PLUS 5!!!
it is the 6th best goal diff in the league - just for comparison... West Ham's is MINUS 16!

I will be worried until we hit 40 points.

Re: Do we need to worry?
But we don't want to get drawn back into the relegation pack after being in the top 7 for so long this season, I've got quite used to being in the safe zone and wouldn't want to go backwards. As some are quoting past manager's records remember that Coyle started very well with Burnley until the bubble burst and he jumped ship.knobpolisher wrote:If we get seven points over the next seven games we will have 37 points , thats a normal end of season total for us !!!
It would be sad to see something similar happening to Bolton. Now you've got me worried about Coyle as well

Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED

When did his bubble burst at Burnley? Burnley fans bubble burst when he bolted.FaninOz wrote:But we don't want to get drawn back into the relegation pack after being in the top 7 for so long this season, I've got quite used to being in the safe zone and wouldn't want to go backwards. Before the MK Dons FA Cup game from which he bolted citing an urgent need to see his family, they hadn't won in nineseanworth wrote:When did his bubble burst at Burnley? Burnley fans bubble burst when he bolted.

Obviously I'm just overly negative and just making it up and there's no chance it could happen!

relax BWFCi - quoting newspaper specualtion makes you totally right!
don't be ridiculous - Coyle would be utterly and completely MAD to even consider the Liverpool job even if it was offered. why swap a club on the up doing his reputation no end of good with a club on the slide that would take him with them???

You'd have thought Coyle would have had enough of managing in the Championship

Re: Do we need to worry?
Personally I think if offered the Liverpool job we won't see Coyle for dust. What you've just said there is almost word for word what Burnley fans were saying when Megson was sacked.thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... Grant.html

I'm not saying the speculation is right or owt, just that I can see him being on a list. Whether it gets any further than that who knows.

Coyle will not be on Liverpool's "list" should they sack Hodgson - they are not going to appoint a manager with less of a proven track record than the one they just sacked...
but then - if the Daily Mail says it...
(and - Burnley were most assuredly NOT on the up when Coyle left them - he cfould see the writing on the wall - plummeting down the table - and the promise of zero investment...)

Re: Do we need to worry?
I wouldn't be too sure on that one Bish. There aren't many options out there. Coyle has a reputation for playing good football. He's Scottish which seems to go down well at Liverpool.thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote: I'm not saying the speculation is right or owt, just that I can see him being on a list. And I've also heard the rumour that he is Dalglish's choice, a manager Kenny could work with.

Re: Do we need to worry?
Times are very very desparate in Liverpool. Who knows what direction they will go.
Re: Do we need to worry?
there are several who would be ahead of Coyle...BWFC_Insane wrote: I wouldn't be too sure on that one Bish. There aren't many options out there.
Rijkaard
O'Neill
Deschamps
Mourinho
Kenny himself
Hiddink
Van Marjwick (sp?)
Pelligrini
McCleish (to follow your scottish theory)
Benitez
Van Bastard
Laurent Blanc
Megson
Big Sam
(OK - I made the last two up!)

Rijkaard ....Has supposedly ruled himself out.
O'Neill....Doesn't have a reputation for "good football".
Deschamps...Has ruled himself out.
Mourinho...Dream on.
Kenny himself...At best till the end of the season.
Hiddink...Not a chance.
Van Marjwick (sp?)...No way.
Pelligrini..Good record but would they risk a manager without a big profile in England? Also he only joined Malaga in November.
McCleish (to follow your scottish theory)...Not fashionable enough.
Benitez...This is probably a genuine option. Can't see it somehow though, fans would be split.
Van Bastard...Hasn't been a success as a manager.
Laurent Blanc...Has just become French manager so no.
Megson
Big Sam
(OK - I made the last two up!)

Re: Do we need to worry?
It'll never happen.
Coyle won't quit a club where he's seen as a managerial God for another club who even though they're below them in the league have better players and potentially more money to spend. Would he?

Re: Do we need to worry?
He could quite easily go to Liverpool. Couldn't blame him if he did, so BWFCi has a point.
But I can't see them jumping out of the frying pan in to the fire. They've already done the " small club manager doiing well". I'm guessing a big name this time out, and I'm praying its Benitez.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: Do we need to worry?
The new owner while no experience at football is no fool. I very much doubt he would agree to Benitez. Mind you my prayers are with you as well even though I feel Little Sam deserves a shot.Lord Kangana wrote:He could quite easily go to Liverpool. Couldn't blame him if he did, so BWFCi has a point.
