Re: The non-knee jerking "Where next" thread
Cahill's good on the ball, reads it well, fairly mobile etc. What worries me most is that, wherever we are on the pitch, when we misplce a pass (fairly often), the opposition are all over our back for within a few seconds.plymouth wanderer wrote:Burnden Cat wrote:Given the personnel at our disposal, play Cahill in front of the two centre halves to stop teams getting at us so quickly once we lose possession.
Up front is justa case of horses for courses, freshness, form etc.
Jaaskelainen
Boyata Knight Wheater Gardner
Cahill
NRC Muamba Pratley
Davies/Ngog/Klasnic
it's funny you should mention this cus i always thought he would be decnt there
Beyond that, with Lee & Holden out crocked, we need some kind of outlet ball to buy the team time by simply keeping possession & buying a foul or two. Almost can't believe I'm saying this but, given the circumstances, Dioufy anyone?

Genuine question.
A goal at 2 up v QPR, ones when losing to Liverpool and City. They're on the tally but are they actually worth a bean?

He has in previous seasons though. Not as though anyone else is in the habit of banging in vital goals at the moment is it?

I also haven't been that impressed with NRC, Pratley has impressed me more with his effort and constant badgering of the opposition.

Pratley has more to offer than NRC for me.

You won't be impressed with anybody if you're not happy with 82% passing success in a losing teamkeveh wrote:I also haven't been that impressed with NRC, Pratley has impressed me more with his effort and constant badgering of the opposition.

Incredibly wrong... NRC the only player to come out of the season so far with any credit...Choppers wrote:Exactly.keveh wrote:I also haven't been that impressed with NRC, Pratley has impressed me more with his effort and constant badgering of the opposition.

Pratley pretty good second half today... But atm NRC waltzes player of the season...

It's so glaringly obvious, I can't see how anybody can't see it, William

NRC is playing on his fooking own, he's being asked to play about 3 roles in there.
He needs some help, put Muamba in there with him to help out with some ball winning.
NRC by some distance our best player.
Edit: And that's not a criticism of Pratley, I just don't think he's an all round enough midfield player to play in a two!

Not only has he played well, but he's got that fight and leadership we are missing. Make the man captain.

NRC has easliy been our best player this season
tho that's not that hard
he's got to be captain

Agree with NRC as captain....
Re: The non-knee jerking "Where next" thread
Also Gardner has staked his claim for a regular starting place in my opinion, and it makes me happy to say that! Still has the pace, can tackle and worked his socks off. Get them t-shirts made!

I agree - in front of Robinson - not at left back... At the moment there's no space for a defensive passenger like Petrov...Beefheart wrote:Also Gardner has staked his claim for a regular starting place in my opinion, and it makes me happy to say that! Or Gardner behind Kakuta/Eagles or summat. Eagles seems pretty useful cutting in on his right.William the White wrote:I agree - in front of Robinson - not at left back... Petrov is our only vague attempt at creativity. Added to that he's also our only outlet. Agree that he's a problem defensively. But I worry that without Petrov we have no attacking shape....William the White wrote:I agree - in front of Robinson - not at left back...
