No, I think Pratley is a shocking player and shouldn't even be on the bench for us never mind in the first 11. Despite Reo-Coker's bad game today, it should be him and M Davies in the centre of midfield.

Re: owen out
I do agree with a 4-5-1 formation.
Defence has to be Gardner, Cahill, Wheater and Boyata and nothing else.
I'd like to see both Muamba and Reo-Coker as the defensive midfielders but if Muamba were to play, he shouldn't be allowed out of our own half and should be merely a ball winner. Soon as he's won the ball, he should (attempt) to pass it to the closest Bolton player to him, unless that player is over 5 yards away from him, then he should run with it until there's a Bolton player within that distance, then pass.
3 attacking midfielders out of Eagles, Petrov, MDavies, Kakuta and Tuncay, and then Ngog up front on his own.

Give him the same money as the previous manager and I'll judge him equally.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

He's hardly wasted any money has he? In my opinion his only bad signing so far has been Pratley and that was on a free transfer.a1 wrote:he'd only save it or waste it on some burnley reservesLord Kangana wrote:Give him the same money as the previous manager and I'll judge him equally.

The players that aren't performing in the team at the moment have all been Megson or Allardyce signings.
Re: owen out
I'll judge him based on what he's achieved
7 straight home defeats
Beaten in 2 of our 4 winnable games
Embarrassed 3 times already this season
No Elmander, no Holden, no Lee and no Sturridge - it was always going to be hard, but fcuking hell, let's at least look like we're trying
We looked less fit than them...we looked disorganised...Pratleys two best tackles were on team mates

How would you describe Petrov?Gail Platz wrote:He's hardly wasted any money has he? In my opinion his only bad signing so far has been Pratley
And no doubt you have a word that means 'way worse than bad' for Alonso
Tuncay...why?
Holden, NGog and Wheater, good signings

While Petrov is not good defensively, in my opinion he's been our main attacking threat so far this season. I wouldn't class him as a bad signing but he's not had the impact I thought he originally would.CAPSLOCK wrote:How would you describe Petrov?Gail Platz wrote:He's hardly wasted any money has he? As for Tuncay, I actually rate him and think he's a good player, I don't know why he isn't being picked.

Re: owen out
Circumstances are conspiring against OC & I think we should stick with him.
We've rode our luck in the past but a club of our size is going to struggle every now & again in the Prem.
Serious injuries to our 2 best players
The legacy of Megson being given umpteen million to spend is what makes us flog Al Habsi and not have the cash to buy adequate replacements elswewhere in the side.
The only similarity with Sammy Lee I can see, is the SKD situation. Lee dropped Nolan and it allegedly cost him the dressing room. I wonder if this is why Owen is so reluctant to drop Kev?

Yep, I judge Coyle on the results he has maintained he can deliver, the type of football, he claimed we could deliver when after this summer he could bring in the players he wanted.CAPSLOCK wrote:I'll judge him based on what he's achieved

There was a lot he could do with the money he saved in selling and releasing players, his own words! He could build his 'own team'!
Well we are seeing what that is now!

Re: owen out
See I like Owen Coyle, and where we to be relegated, I'd love a young enthusiastic manager like that to try and bring a team through, and earn promotion. Like Lambert at Norwich did.
At the moment though its clueless.
We can't defend set pieces.
We always look like we are a man shorter than the opposition; I think its cos Davies is finished, but it could go way more deeper, than that in just how little ground or work the lads seem to put in for each other.
We're easy to score against, attack down the left side and have a goal.
Coyle seems to stick with people like Knight (OK dropped cos the fans clamoured for it, Wheater comes in and looks good), Robinson, Davies...the old guard as it were.
This inverted wide men thing looks unnatural with our lot.
Tuncay. WTF is that all about? half a match and sacked off? HE doesn't fit a 442. Why sign him then if you MUST play 442?
Generally defensively we don't seem to do our homework on what the other team do...it all seems a bit 'We're Bolton, this is how we play, come and beat us'....and everyone does.
I liked his attitude with Cahill, sticking to our guns, but thats gonna be egg on your face time soon. We've shipped 20+ goals already with him in the side - we may as well ship 20+ goals without him and with £10 mil in the bank.
I can't see Uncle Eddie with much of a choice soon...be relegated and keep Coyle, or sack him in hope....but the damage may be done...realistically we'll know after Stoke I think. 2 More defeats and that will be 3 wins in half a seasons worth of matches. Hello Derby; what's your record?
Such a shame

Re: owen out
I have a theory about sticking with Knight. He didn't want to bring Wheater in against the big clubs at the start of the "tough run". Then he was unlucky towards the end of that when he finally brings him in (I forget the game) and he gets sent off/suspended.officer_dibble wrote:Coyle seems to stick with people like Knight (OK dropped cos the fans clamoured for it, Wheater comes in and looks good), Robinson, Davies...the old guard as it were.
That's just a guess on my part though. In terms of the old guard, he's dropped Steinsson and Muamba, and now Knight. He also dropped Kev until Ngog got injured. Back in now but it's surely only a matter of time.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Re: owen out
Our biggest fault at the moment is we're too readable. We can't keep possession and all too often are hit on the break when our supposed attacks give the ball away with players forward. One long clearance inevitably sees a mad rush to get back and mobile players leaving our defenders for dead. We can't seem to get men running into spaces and Rio Coker is the only one who goes looking for the ball in midfield. We're just not mobile enough most of the game. We also don't keep the ball on the deck enough. I'm not defending Davies,he is past his best and rapidly approaching career end, but it's the system that's wrong. Ariel balls down the centre are useless unless players are there. How many times do we just gift the ball straight back to the opposition from clearances when all the white shirts are in our half or he's stuck up there on his own with three defenders round him? Anelka wanted the ball on the deck, so did Sturridge and even Elmander. N'gog will be the same until we change it. Jussi has to stop keep looking for Davies and giving balls with snow on them eight feet in the air.
The defence wouldn't constantly be under seige if they weren't falling over our own players and had somebody to pass to. Holden changed our game by playing a Paul Scholes type game and carrying the ball forward. Our passing is, in general our worst fault. Giving the ball away is why we were under such pressure today. Sunderland were hitting their own men almost everytime; we usually hit one of theirs with our passes. Try Tuncay up front with N'gog but get the ball on the deck. Till we do, nothing will change.
And that fella Wickham has never been any good; absolute scoundrel of a man.
