Had to laugh at the 1-2 prediction. You seem to think we won't keep a clean sheet! Just out of curiosity when was the last time we managed it -in the Prem?

Coyle said: "Aside from the long-term injuries, the one major doubt that we have for Saturday is Dedryck. He came off injured last week and he has not been able to do any training up to this point.
"He would need to be training by Friday, the day before the game, to have any chance but at this point he is a major doubt. His ankle has got better but there is still discomfort there."

Re: Swans v Trotters
Last league clean sheet before QPR was West Ham, the week before You Know What. We also got clean sheets at home to Everton, Wolves, WBA and Fulham. Last away league clean sheet before QPR wasn't even last season, it was at Wigan on 17 Feb 2010. That's one clean sheet in 30 league trips. No wonder it's free coach travel, the bouncers should be outside throwing 'em in.
Some interesting quotes from Coyle in the BN piece highlighted above. Now who might these older let-downers be, huh?

If you look through, our young players are doing really well. But one or two of our experienced players know they have got a lot more to bring to the party. This was always going to be a season of transition because since I came in, my objective was to try and bring down the age, so that we're not an ageing squad and we have a balance.
I want a young, energetic team that looks to do better on a yearly basis. We've got two good young players – Stuart Holden and Chung-Yong Lee – out of the reckoning at the moment, so there's no doubt in my mind that we will move forward and improve over time as a football club.
[At Arsenal] We made nine changes and a number of them showed me they are ready to play. We saw a lot of good, as we did against Wigan and in spells against Sunderland.
I've said before that the longer this season goes, the better we will get. We haven't done ourselves justice in some of our fixtures but if you take the five of the top six out, you have four games – Norwich, Sunderland, Wigan and QPR – and we've won two of them.
Ordinarily you'd feel that's okay but because we'd lost those games in between, it seems to become a must-win. That is the nature of the league and we've got to understand it. We've got to go to Swansea now and win a game to move us up the league because we don't like sitting in the bottom three. We know we are better than that.

of course he will! I think people are saying what they would LIKE to see!TANGODANCER wrote:Are you all really thinking KD won't figure somewhere in this? My money's on him maybe starting or coming on with half an hour to play. Weshall no doubt see.
if you were picking, Tango - would KD start?

Nowhere did I say he "should" start, only that I think he'll appear in the game somewhere. I'm guessing at OC's view, not mine. And no, right now his form isn't good enough for automatic selection.thebish wrote:of course he will! Lets play this another way.TANGODANCER wrote:Are you all really thinking KD won't figure somewhere in this? My money's on him maybe starting or coming on with half an hour to play. Weshall no doubt see.
Is there anyone here other than TD who would have Kevin Davies in their matchday squad, let alone in the team?
Sorry TD, I know he's your idol, infact he's someone everyone holds a lot of respect for, but he's absolutely finished at top level. Waste of a place, and why we always we look a man short IMO.
451 with Klasnic up top, Ngog on the bench. Muamba, Reo Coker and Mark Davies across the middle, anyone on't wings as their all much of a muchness. If Boyata is fit, brilliant.
Oh aye, Riccy G at left back. Anyone who would pick Robinson instead?

I agree that SKD should not start .... but I suspect he will (which is, I think, what TD's saying). He'll certainly be in the squad.
For me it'd be N'Gog who's hold up play in his 30 mins on Tuesday was excellent, inventive and he was very mobile.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Swans v Trotters
I'd have him in the squad. He's playing badly, very badly, and he wouldn't be in the team at the moment. I'm not sure he is any more finished now than he has been for the last five years when people have been saying it. Sure he could be, but equally he could just be having a bad run. It's not like pace and a miracle first touch have ever been crucial parts of his game which have now left him. I'd have him around, if for nothing other than chuck him on in the last ten minutes when chasing a goal, or, knowing he doesn't have to last 90 mins, run around harrying defenders like he used to.officer_dibble wrote:Lets play this another way.TANGODANCER wrote:Are you all really thinking KD won't figure somewhere in this? Sentimentality aside, if we had just bought KD or indeed got him on a free, and he put in the performances he has been recently, people would be seriously questioning why we are playing such a player. Ergo he doesn't start.

It was a light hearted comment.
