Re: Coyle on next season....
I like a lot of what Coyle is saying. If he is our long term manager and these are our long term plans, then I have little complaints about the direction of the club. We do need to build a good, young team and then when we come to sell players on, replace them with another young player. It's the only way we can feasibly remain in the Premier League given the spending power of other clubs compared to us. Of course, we have to get there first which will be tricky but I'm optimistic about our future and I'm glad we're going in the right direction.

In the centre midfield department Keith Andrews? On a free and has done the business in the Championship scoring goals for fun.

We've got some decent players for that level. We also look dangerously lightweight for what is a pretty physical division!
Re: Coyle on next season....
Ugh. Mighty fallen. I'd have Keith Andrews.
I think we need another one up top too. Bet your bottom dollar we'll be going mental 4-4-2 again. 3 strikers not enough. Not seen much of O'Halloran, but when I did see him he never looked like scoring. He'd fit in well. Never seen Eaves.

We get Keith Andrews, he does a decent job in the Championship, we get promoted, now we're saddled with the wages of a guy who has never really been able to cut it at that level. Not a great investment as I see it.

I'd have another striker and I'd have Andrews. If he came to us it would be on Championship wages so I dont see any problem there.
I notice no mention of Knight. Is he off? Given Wheaters injury, I wouldn't be too upset at him staying in the hope he could emulate the form he showed when Cahill was out injured.

Nixon says we're still negotiating with Knight. Says maybe a week to sort it out.

Good - hope we can secure him... Every chance, I would have thought...H. Pedersen wrote:Nixon says we're still negotiating with Knight. Says maybe a week to sort it out.
Re: Coyle on next season....
Meh, he does my head in, and I was hoping to see the back of him this summer, but with Wheater injured needs must. I'd have liked to see if we could get someone better first though.

For the division we're in, and Wheater out for a long time... Get him... total no brainer...Prufrock wrote:Meh, he does my head in, and I was hoping to see the back of him this summer, but with Wheater injured needs must. I'd have liked to see if we could get someone better first though.

He is a fanny
We need a brute,.mad gerry type to play with ream. Hard centre forwards would eat the pair of em for breakfast.
I dont think we need to dpend big on a talented centre half just sign a wise hard bastard. I genuineley dont know enough about the players available now that we will try for..How about Ryan Nelsen?

They wouldn't - but, for sure, we need some convincing back up...officer_dibble wrote:He is a fanny

Not literally! Best way of putting it is that were we facing a team whose centre halves were Knight and Ream I would probably type:
'Get Davo fired up and into 'em from the off..They will wilt.'
The pair of them seem very Matthew Upson.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
