We'll definitely play 4-4-2 which to me means we wont keep a clean sheet. Just hope we have enough up top to at least score 2 or 3 ourselves

Re: Bolton v Derby
They're going to ream us.
I expect Coyle to maintain his two goals a game average. So 2-0 or 3-1, that sort of thing.
But don't anyone panic, cos y'know, it's only the second game out of 46 etc, etc.
Give him a few more games etc, etc.

Isn't that the case with every formation in the book? Currently they don't have the confidence or ability to play in any formation with complete success. Why not try a formation that, by itself, should be at least marginally solid enough to win us points on its own.BWFC_Insane wrote:These 4-2-3-1's or whatever look very nice on paper, but rely on the players having the confidence and ability to pass it short and stay compact.
As it stands I don't think they have that confidence. Not the ability in some cases. Not one player came short to look for the ball yesterday. Not one.

What we need now is two convincing results in the next two. By that I don't mean 4-0's but results where we win and deservedly so. 1-0 is fine if we look the better team and look solid and hard to score against.
Part of the problem is I'm really struggling to remember the last time we won and played really well and convincingly for 90 minutes.

I very much doubt that even Coyle would chuck Vela in in a two.

Re: Bolton v Derby
I was so looking forward to this game but yesterday's shambles has really knocked the stuffing out of me. I can take a loss if the effort is there but we are beaten by the better team on the day, I can cope with a bad performance when I'm safe in the knowledge that it's probably a one off. I just don't feel that any more.
I can't believe how much my club has changed, even the seasons when we avoided relegation the match day experience was more often than not a good one. Of course there were blummin dark days, a 3-1 loss to Derby springs to mind ... man that was BAD. But I always felt we would turn the corner, I need convincing on Tuesday and Friday that the good times can come back.
If Kevin Davies is on the team sheet as a starter well, what little optimism I have will be shot before the kick off.
Going for a win though

Re: Bolton v Derby
Hallelujah. Something to agree on at last. Exactly the point I was making yesterday. It was like "pass the hand-grenade" with nary a player looking for the space and wanting to have the ball, a-la Hoden. Running up blind alleys, panic passing, going backwards and ...hooooofff. As for all the talk about formation, Burnley didn't appear to worry too much about synchronised football. The just hunted ever player down like a pack of wolves in the sure knowlege that they'd find space when ever they moved the ball forwards. I almost cried when KD, Sordell and Mavis crouched together like the three stooges at kick-off then Mavis tried a one man assault, lost the ball and turned it into a Burnley attack with our lot moving forward like a slide on a copying machine.BWFC_Insane wrote:These 4-2-3-1's or whatever look very nice on paper, but rely on the players having the confidence and ability to pass it short and stay compact.

Im gonna go with a double figures win including 3 consecutive hatricks from mark davies which causes liverpool to instantly put in a 25 million bid for him, using the money we sign carlos sanchez, jordan rhodes and miguel veloso and go on to finish the season with 135 points. Fergie retires and owen gets the Manure job, allardyce leaves a relegated on 3 points west ham to join us and everyone lives happily ever after.

I think we'll beat them. If we don't, especially if we lose, then I'd really start to worry about the team and the manager. I'm not too worried about that though and I expect a fairly convincing victory.
Bolton 2-0 Derby.
Bolton 2-0 Derby.

Aye, a bit like lots were talking about v Burnley. Treat the lot with a bit more respect and we might start moving forward.SmokinFrazier wrote:I think we'll beat them. A big response needed after yesterday, but I've got a horrible feeling that we're in for a thoroughly miserable 1-0 defeat.

Wasn't the last time we played Derby at the 'Bok when Stelios came on to grab the winner?
What a cold miserable game of football that was. Other than the last few seconds...
