In the spirit of agreement, Master Boris, their primary function is stopping the fcuking ball getting in the box

Aye. Which is why the abuse (not criticism, but abuse) of Mears is a bit baffling..

I'd love us to make it a permanent deal but given our finances, I wouldn't agree to owt over £500k. Would be worth taking the risk and getting him for nowt in the summer. If someone else nips in - too bad.

I thought our finances were fine. We don't owe the banks, just Eddie, and he doesn't want it back. Warnock's a snip at £2m.Harry Genshaw wrote:I'd love us to make it a permanent deal but given our finances, I wouldn't agree to owt over £500k. £2m when he would be free 5 months later doesn't make him a snip imo. If he was the difference between us going up & not, then some may say it was worth spending. I dont think he is, so I dont think it is.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:I thought our finances were fine. We don't owe the banks, just Eddie, and he doesn't want it back. I thought Eddie did want his money back but wasn't in any mad rush, no

'Doesn't want it back for ten years' is the equivalent of 'doesn't want it back' as far as the campaign to get back up into the Prem is concerned.Harry Genshaw wrote:£2m when he would be free 5 months later doesn't make him a snip imo. I don't think he [Warnock] is the difference between a good defence and a bad one, but I think he's worth keeping, and therefore worth spending some (not very important in the big scheme of things) money on, is all I'm saying.

£2M? F*ck it, shall I start the car?
Get him signed.
Get him signed.
Re: Villa want £2 million for Warnock
£2m on a 31 year old is not the supposed 'strategy'...
then again that strategy is spending a similar amount on Marcos Alonso.

Re: Villa want £2 million for Warnock
If we're shipping a few out in January I'd say go for it with Warnock. Not seen a massive amount of him but we have Ricketts and Riley (if he's still here) who have looked good, with Mears, Alonso and Warnock that's too many. I think Riley might be on loan somewhere!? If we just have Ricketts, Mears and Warnock, with the option of recalling Riley if we get injuries I think that should be fine... so Alonso could leave.
Mears made some mistakes but I didn't think he was terrible, I think with some training he could do a job.

The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

He's not on loan. Mears is suspended for the next game and so it's been suggested that Riley is in line for a call-up (bench, perhaps).Armchair Wanderer wrote:I think Riley might be on loan somewhere!? Never in the memory of man are we paying £2m for him.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: Villa want £2 million for Warnock
The days of us being able to afford Villa rejects have gone.
Re: Villa want £2 million for Warnock
£2mil + £20k a week for a left-back? No thanks.
Anyway, I suspect he'd fancy his chances of getting a better deal elsewhere.
