good point.

Why, Tarmy ??
Nah, i was just wondering after Saturdaus game and our finiancial position, as to who we could feasibly attract in the January transfer window. New managers always equals new players as they need to have "their" team and not the inherited one, so we all expect another merry go round with players over the next 12 months.

We might even make a transfer assault on West Ham to get all the old gang back together.

when did this idea gain such common currency? It does seem to be the generally held view - that managers can't possibly be expected to manage a group of players unless they have hand-picked all the players themselves...

surely the art of management is to get the BEST out of the resources you have... that's not to say there isn't a place for identifying gaps and recruiting - but the actual "management" skills are surely about utilising what you have to the greatest impact?

Totally.

Heard something the other day on the radio about League 1... Some manager, Warnock maybe, was saying you need the big physical bodies in there because League 1 teams are frighteningly good at set pieces, so if you try and be all Swansea you'll lose 5-0, but then if you get 11 big, physical, League 1 types you can't play football.

I think it's similar for us in't Championship. When Dougie talks about wanting to add certain players to improve the balance of the team maybe he's talking about a clogger for the middle of defence or a SKD five years younger. We all know where the proof is for this one

Also, about players changing when new managers come in. A lot of the time it's the players who want to go, or who may not be as interested in playing for new management. Faye was an example of this from what I remember when he followed BSA to Newcastle. There may be players at BWFC who think OC was the bees knees and are less than motivated at the minute.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Does this mean Stuart Holden would claim his scottish birth right and start playing for Scotland then

Management is about maximising the resources you've got to hand

Sometimes, the resources aren't up to the job and for nor Freedman can reasonably point his finger at the clueless jock

Here's a thought. Generally, though not always (Holloway to Palace!) people get appointed to manage a football club because the previous regime was failing.

We all know about the drinking habits of horses, the lack of versatility attributed to sow's ears, how hard it is to fashion turds into much other than lumps of shit et al.

Why not just accept that BWFC is in shit order top to bottom and Dougie Freedman was employed to do what he did when he took over at a similarly derelict CPFC.

For the time being it's painful, that I can't deny, but for f*ck sake get off the fella's back and let him do the job. If at the end of next season we're still watching this bunch of overpaid underperfomers I'll happily lead the calls for change.

Ipswich, I think?
Signed a three-month contract with them in October; he becomes a free agent again in the middle of the transfer window.
I would never ever have him back at the Reebok, he said he would leave Bolton and go to a Premier League he went to Ipswich therefore I hope he get his leg snapped in half :)

We've got as much chance of getting Messi as we have Danny Graham.

We'll get some young academy kid from some crap club.

Having looked at the players Freedman signed for Palace and then at holmsdale.net, I couldn't see a single name mentioned on the forum before it was announced by the press. Not only that, but I doubt many Palace fans had heard of any of them either (nor Bolton fans!).

The club needs footballers with ambition, not more tired names from the past!

That's a bit strong, lad. Doubt he'd come back to us anyway the way Ipswich are flying...oh, hang on... 8)
