Despite what I said above my guess would be that he's around £10k pw .... either what it's a bloody fortune for a 21yr old who's not being used and seems to have gone into a depression rather than fight his corner.

Is Twitter an addiction ? Not in a classic drink/drugs/gambling sence, though any compulsive activity may be so described.
It does seem that he's become obsessed with it (from what the report suggests) and can't shake off doing it.
Is it harmful ? ... possibly.
Has his manager requested he stop it and he failed to do as asked ? It appears so.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

ECT. Very underrated; he might twitch a bit afterwards and not know his arse from his elbow or have much in the way of short-term memory retention but it doesn't affect one's physical capabilities and it'd certainly cure his twitter obsession.

... or a bit of Pavlov where he gets an electric shock every time he tweets .... and a chocolate treat whenever he presses delete.

You may be onto something here, how about an electric shock everytime a player loses the ball and some chocolate when they score a goal.

They'd be very slim ... and mostly look like they've just escaped from 'Cuckoo's Nest' !!

Listening to the interview on the radio, it sounded very much tongue in cheek from DF. The way that it has been reported by Sky as being hard fact is apalling.

Not read that but can believe it. After all, headlines sell papers and get hits online.

You don't think? He left Watford where he can't have been on bad wages, to come oop North. Something tasty must have tempted him to come somewhere he didn't really want to move to, presumably a contract on Prem wages? I could also see that as a reason why we haven't had a bid for him, as most Championship clubs would be put off if his agent is looking for similar money

He would've joined because we'd doubled his money. He wasn't a big earner at Watford as he'd only been in the first team for a year and a half (tops) from their academy. We were also a Premier League side at the time under a manager who had a reputation for playing and aiding the development of young players (wether he did or not, doesn't mean he wasn't reputed to).

If I was a gambling man, I'd bet he was on less than 10k per week. If he was on 20-25k, he'd be on the same as the skipper ATM.

Be it £10, £20 or £25k+ a week it's more than enough to be able to understand the concept of putting your phone down when the boss asks you to.

God this thread has gone off topic. Tut.

Truth be told, it's years since kids were sent up chimneys. Current employment law requires employers to consider their employees welfare.

Of course that isn't to suggest the legislation is correct, much better the sick should be told to f*ck off.
Let's keep a sense of proportion Enoch. Dougie Freedman has been brought in to manage what he has in the way of football talent. Employees welfare is about employees using mobile phones for personal issues, really? I just hope the real issue, like others claim, is media bullshit
getting carried away. Forgive me for having no sympathy for anything else. The man's in a job and getting well paid for it. If he isn't doing it, for whatever reason, get shut. That's how the world still works, despite no chimneys.

Apologies! I just wanted to create a thread where we could discuss this as we've been speculating about Marvin for a few months now. It seems to be a pretty 50/50 split between sympathy and man up.
Haha don't be silly, wasn't aimed at you at all :)
