He could of left the sinking ship last season and would be playing in the prem still under Martin O Neil, i think we're lucky to have a player as dedicated as him at the club.
Hes achieved an awful lot over the years and achieved it wearing a wanderers shirt, granted, he's had his best years but definitely still contributes to the team

Re: SKD on Goals on Sunday.
He's looking after himself to the detriment of the team by his refusal to run. He doesn't even make 10 yard sprints anymore. He's scared of running incase he gets tired, in which case he'll have to come off.

This ^. Apart from, in fact, it wouldn't (it wouldn't be much better off with N'Gog starting).Prufrock wrote:He doesn't pick himself does he? What do folk expect? "Nah, I'm sorry gaffer, I'm not playing, I'm shit now. The team would be much better off with David N'Gog starting".

So he's playing shit on purpose to ensure he gets more game time?boltonboris wrote:He's looking after himself to the detriment of the team by his refusal to run. He doesn't even make 10 yard sprints anymore. He's scared of running incase he gets tired, in which case he'll have to come off.

Not playing shit on purpose, no... But certainly doesn't do anywhere near as much running as 1) He used to, and 2) he should do.

Re: SKD on Goals on Sunday.
He has stuck with us through think and thin! He gets chosen to play ahead of the other strikers by the Manager not himself!
I think we have also won more points when SKD has started then we have with any striker!

Quite... But he shouldn't be pacing himself to make sure he lasts.. Which is where my "detriment to the team" came from.mrkint wrote:Player in losing stamina as he gets older shocker?
Do you not agree?

I'd have fcuked him off in Megsons time when he looked like he was getting a bit big for the place, but
Is it not sensible for him to attemopt to 'last' a game rather than being out on his feet for the last half hour
Unless the manager is saying, 'we want the best hour you can give us, then you're off'

Agreed, but that's up to the manager, not Davo.boltonboris wrote:That's what it should be..CAPSLOCK wrote:I'd have fcuked him off in Megsons time when he looked like he was getting a bit big for the place, but

not saying this is the case here - though he HAS been picked by successive managers (arguably) beyond his sell-by date... but sometimes managers can find themselves held to ransom by players who become "cock of the dressing room"...Prufrock wrote:Agreed, but that's up to the manager, not Davo.boltonboris wrote:That's what it should be..CAPSLOCK wrote:I'd have fcuked him off in Megsons time when he looked like he was getting a bit big for the place, but

some people have suggested in the past that KD might have that kind of a grip...

You'd have to add up bits from a whole season to get a good hour.boltonboris wrote:That's what it should be..CAPSLOCK wrote:I'd have fcuked him off in Megsons time when he looked like he was getting a bit big for the place, but

It's up to Davo to play at 100% for as long as he can.Prufrock wrote:Agreed, but that's up to the manager, not Davo.boltonboris wrote:That's what it should be..CAPSLOCK wrote:I'd have fcuked him off in Megsons time when he looked like he was getting a bit big for the place, but

Not at 60%, so that the decision doesn't have to be made.

Re: SKD on Goals on Sunday.
I don't agree, if you are told you are starting and aren't told the manager only wants an hour, you have to pace yourself for 90 minutes. It isn't up to him to second guess the manager. The manager isn't an idiot, he can see the level of performance Kev is capable over 90 minutes. If he wants higher intensity for shorter, it is up to him to say so, not for Kev to second guess the manager. The manager would be rightly f*cked off if Sordell chased every single defender down at full speed constantly so he could barely run after 25 mins.boltonboris wrote:It's up to Davo to play at 100% for as long as he can.Prufrock wrote:Agreed, but that's up to the manager, not Davo.boltonboris wrote:That's what it should be..CAPSLOCK wrote:I'd have fcuked him off in Megsons time when he looked like he was getting a bit big for the place, but

Then why's he picking him at all?Prufrock wrote:

Re: SKD on Goals on Sunday.
That's not what I'm saying though. I'm not after Davo chasing down every loose ball and harassing every defender. I'm after him doing the basics... Making a run to try and pull a defender away, marking a near post dart when a cross is coming in. In fact, just generally keeping up with play. So many times, we'll attack down the wings and you see Kevin Davies jogging from the half way line when the balls near the box. We have to go back and start again. He's a statue... And it's not because he can't run.

Snooze. Coz he still thinks it's better than the best of David N'Gog?Wandering Willy wrote:Then why's he picking him at all?Prufrock wrote:

And he isn't picking him for 90 mins recently since Sordell found some form. Finally found one of the others capable of playing better than Davo at 60%.
