Re: Trouble for youngster out on loan
its still a contact sport , folk are gonna fight over it occasionally. to get banned for 12 months is a bit long, but - "racist russian football(er?) gets 4 rouble fine" type stories happen a lot more .boltonboris wrote:Not sure what point you're trying to make
he'd be better off just being a racist or whatever. its less of a problem in fifa/uefa eyes.

I'm just glad he didn't spit at him. After all, that's The Worst Thing A Professional Footballer Can Do (c.2006).

Are you saying that I'd be more lenient on my opinion if he was a racist? There's no place in the football club I support for people who purposely and repeatedly kick other people in the face and stamp on their heads because he doesn't like what they've said / done during a contact sport.
There's no place in society whatsoever, never mind a football club for people who use racist language.

Re: Trouble for youngster out on loan
the article is vague on purpose
"Earlier this week, Fraser was named in Thistle's under-20 squad for a league outing against Dunfermline. After a late challenge sparked a mass confrontation between rival players, the Wanderers loanee was sent off for what has been described as 'excessive misconduct' by match referee Grant Irvine."
i think this means he was on the receiving end of the bad tackle, then lost his rag. did the tackler get sent off too ? or did he get let off because he was punched ? i think he did go too. maybe he too should get 12 month ban.
the ref should get banned for 12 months.

Re: Trouble for youngster out on loan
The bad tackles, although not wanted, are part and parcel unfortunately and are one of the reasons the referees are there. Stamping on people faces isn't.
I still have absolutely no idea what point you're trying to make.. Are you excusing him?

I don't think anyone knows what point a1 is making.
Like Plymouth said I think that he is still under the influence. Being under the influence that often though really cannot be good for you.

A bad tackle doesn't warrant a violent response. So what if a player gets kicked? It's part of the game and players have to accept it'll happen. There's no excuse for the violent reaction though.

Really ? Has it happened to you in the heat of a proper game SF ?SmokinFrazier wrote:A bad tackle doesn't warrant a violent response. So what if a player gets kicked? It's part of the game and players have to accept it'll happen. There's no excuse for the violent reaction though.
If you can hold back, & yes ... you SHOULD ..., then you certainly get the fckr later.
Going hell for leather like this sounds is very naughty and he'll rightly get severe punishment for it, but it'd have to have been very late in the match if I were to let someone 'do' me and them get away with it. If that happened I'd have remembered for the next match he turned up in.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

With Bobo on this one, given he was on the receiving end off what sounds like a bad challenge I am not surprised in the slightest that he had a go, I don't condone but I wouldn't say if that happened to me I wouldn't snap.bobo the clown wrote:Really ? Steady. There's remembering and making sure you flatten someone next time....aaaand then a long way away from that is stamping on someone's face.

"Going hell for leather like this sounds is very naughty and he'll rightly get severe punishment for it ... " was what I said. I wouldn't have been planning stamping on the guy.

Its a hell of a lot easier to prove someone hit someone in the face than it is to prove they used a racial slur on the pitcha1 wrote:its still a contact sport , folk are gonna fight over it occasionally. to get banned for 12 months is a bit long, but - "racist russian football(er?) gets 4 rouble fine" type stories happen a lot more .boltonboris wrote:Not sure what point you're trying to make

A lad from Barrow got sent down for punching a player on the pitch.. It was a televised FA Cup game against Bristol Rovers.. Unfortunately for him, the BBC cameras picked it up.
