They looked decent last year, even though they were struggling. We played some good stuff at theirs but threw 2 points away, and then won at home despite being outplayed for long periods.
They are a lot stronger this season. Will be interesting to see how Ream and mills do against a good striker in form. Sounds like Ream had a shocker at weekend, very poor for their penalty. Shades of Millwall at home there. Let's hope it's a blip and he's got the mental strength to return to form immediately.

He was part of a defence 5 minutes from another clean sheet

Not sure that makes it a shocker

Was just going off what I saw from the highlights, and the player ratings in the BN, which is just one man's opinion of course. Beyond doubt though that poor decision making from him cost the team that clean sheet. That penalty was easily avoidable. I like the guy, but he messed up.
What did the people who went think?

Tired footballer makes individual error shock.. When Boro's only shot on target is the pen I'd reckon we reduced them to shots from range for 85 minutes I'd settle forthat every week at this level.. Personally I'd possibly have more sympathy with blaming the result on the lad who couldn't hit the frame of the goal from 36 ft wi a free hit.. just saying..
As for tomorrow we'll get gomped .. cos collectively we couldn't hit a cows arse wi a banjo in front of goal...
Are we in League 2 yet - Three seasons and we'll be away to Chesham

He's not aiming for 8 foot x 8 yards though, is he? He's trying to stick in somewhere around the edge of that where the keeper wont save it.

whereas if he'd stuck it straight down the middle the keeper would've dived out of the way of it. He who dares wins, or, he who can does.
That's not a leopard!

So bad was his kick, he was unable even to hit the woodwork, which incidentally still counts as off target, leave alone the 192 sq ft available ...
First hit the target.. worry about goalies and the 12-18 sq ft they can occupy once you can do the first bit with a degree of regularity...
Anyone who has 'goal scorer' in his passport and earns a handsome remuneration on that basis should be able to score from 12 yards more often than not.. considerably more often than not.. saves mostly excusable.. stratospheric blastage not so... :P

That's just crap. It doesn't matter where the feckin ball goes in. It's never going to go in over the feckin bar.

I'll wager that Beckford does - so - no problem!

No shock at all, and I'm not for blaming anyone. I'm just a bit concerned that Ream might revert to last season's type which would be a crying shame given his recent improvement. I think you are inferring too much from my comment.
Just pointing out that being part of a defence that nearly kept a clean sheet isn't much of a personal achievement when your individual error cost the clean sheet and contributed to the loss of a point.
I want Ream in the team and doing well, because he is one of the few players we have with real class on the ball and I enjoy watching him play.

So they should roll it carefully on the floor down the middle.

It's no use on target if it's weak and at the keeper. It was a shit penalty, but it's not as simple as 'hitting the target from 12 yards', he's got to beat the big fella with gloves too.

Or in the case of Given, the not quite so big fella with gloves.

Do we have stats for successful penalties

Wonder if there are more successful ones in the Prem than say Division 4

10th April 2003...

Austin 'Jay Jay' Okocha has said he was furious for missing a penalty kick in Bolton's 2-0 win over Manchester City at the weekend.

Austin?!

That day was the day he put in the best performance I've ever seen from a footballer, after he'd missed a penalty early on. Angry Jay-Jay ruled!

As long as it goes on I don't think anyone will care how it's done, apart from you it seems
