A good manager would not only play him but get the best out of him too. Somebody, probably in the Championship, is going to get themselves a great player for nowt in the summer.

I wish
I suspect like others have said, he'll bide his time and see what's out there. Our opening contract talks are likely to be "So Chris, we're offering you a 2 year deal with a 50% pay cut on your current wages. Just sign here"
Whilst he's unlikely to command Premiership wages anywhere, a decent signing on fee from the likes of Leicester or God forbid, Wigan, could rule us out.

I don't for a second think that we'd have to offer someone like Eagles 50% of his current wage. I think our manager might choose to.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

I have no idea what Eagles is on a week. Would he have had a relegation clause in his last contract, or is he still on Premiership whack? You're right though LK if he aint for Dougie, then it will either be no offer or a very low one in the summer to make him look elsewhere

I have no idea about individuals, but the accounts did mention that several players had a a relegation-related wage cut. I'd find it highly probable that Eagles is one of them - he wasn't coming from a team much higher up. In the same way, I'd expect players like N'Gog and probably the likes of SKD not to have had one (I'd expect, don't know for certain).
Anyway, if Dougie is still here in the summer, I don't expect Eagles to be. I don't think it'll be money related.

I think their 'relationship' is at Ground Zero.

Any reason to suggest it isn't so?

Why would he not pick one of our truly creative players even when fit ? On occasions not even having him on the bench. When on the bench often not bringing him on ... despite the lack of energy and inventiveness on the pitch.Enoch wrote:Any reason why you think that?
There were remarks about players who weren't pulling their weight and it seemed to be directed at the ones not getting games ... which included Eagles.

Wonder if he's started pulling his weight?

This thread is going down the pan already, it'll soon be 101.

Pray tell, what exactly does "pulling ones weight" entail if you aren't being picked? Presumably he disappears when its his tun to make a brew at Euxton or something?

I would put money on that he is 1 of our top 5 highest paid players.Harry Genshaw wrote:I have no idea what Eagles is on a week. This fella is a fair illustration of how the beautiful game divides opinion.
Today's match thread (Blackpool, FA Cup 3rd round) catches the mood more generally displayed on these boards. Some see him as our star player, match winner or such, whilst others see him as the waste of a shirt.
Based on the times I've watched him live, I have no doubt he has the odd stellar performance in him. I've certainly seen him play well on more than one occasion, but I've seen him put in plenty of Stella performances.
He's clearly got skill to waste, but does he do it all too often?
For me he's the curate's egg.

I can only see one person saying he was a waste of a shirt. I think thats a bit like Tom Baker in Blackadder. "Opinion is divided on the subject- everyone else says you do, I say you don't".

There was a BN article suggesting that the ankle injury had a lasting impact. He's certainly back in favour now but I expect age and wages will mean he leaves in the summer rather than a rift. He may well have had a row as well, don't we all?
Dougie may have his faults, but he does seem able to get players on his side. Just needs to get them to play foot ball properly now!
...

I would only put on the 2p I found on the street Bish, only gamble on things I honestly believe to be certain and only in amounts of money I can afford to lose, I finished last year up £35 although I am currently on -2p for this year by the sounds of it.thebish wrote:a fool and his money are easily parted!
