First thing that occurred to me. Eight results on the pools was worth £75,000 at one time. If I'd got nine predictions right and got 231 quid for doing it I'd hardly be buzzing.Leyther wrote:Must be a happy camp if our own staff expect to us to get beat and cash in. That's the part that sticks out for me too.
If you're going to have a 9-game accie you might as well have something to crow about after. Some people...

So your £1.73 @ 38:1 return ... that's around £60 now. Still not crowing ?Jakerbeef wrote:That's the part that sticks out for me too.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Daft, simple as that. It's not unthinkable that he is in general privy to inside information on the first team, injuries, team selections and such, but this isn't a major crime for me. If he'd put £500 on a QPR single, it would be.

Because then the Manager could play a weakened team / select people out of position / employ useless tactics for a few games.Prufrock wrote:I've never got why you can't bet on yourself to win?
Wait till the odds on a win improve.
And then suddenly do his job properly, place a bet on a win, and make a killing.

Oh dear

Re: Harmless fun ?
They key is to use free online bets and stop betting the day those bets run out. I have paid for several games this season with the proceeds of betting thanks to free bets.

Only a young kid - shame really.
Not done much wrong other than youthful stupidity.

It was inevitable I suppose, but you'd be a harsh man not feel sorry for the lad.Worthy4England wrote:Only a young kid - shame really.

Looks like he'll be needing that £230.
It does seem very harsh (although I accept he resigned). It doesn't take much of an investigation to work out that someone who coaches children affiliated with the club sticking £6 on a nine team accumulator probably isn't part of an international match-fixing conspiracy. I'm surprised someone that insignificant to the first team is even covered in the FA's rules.

Wonder if anyone produced the piece of paper he signed acknowledging he'd been made aware of his position.
He did sign did he?!
Absolute tragedy.
That'll learn him about social media though!

They don't need to. If it's part of the overarching T's & C's & /or is an 'implied' term ... which it surely will be.Enoch wrote:Wonder if anyone produced the piece of paper he signed acknowledging he'd been made aware of his position.

It is a shame for him, but there will not be an employee of a football club who isn't aware that it's not allowed. So I have sympathy for a young lad doing something daft but he shouldn't have done it.

Re: Harmless fun ?
If the Company turns it's policies around they are wise to write to each person and have them sign that they acknowledge the new rules ("acknowledge", not "agree" ... it won't be a negotiation). If you disagree then you can clear off to work for someone you do agree with.Enoch wrote:I knew all them bits of paper I signed were pointless. Not signing it or claiming you don't know, or didn't agree will cut no ice.
A lot of Companies have issued ethical codes this way in recent years. They do tend to communicate it and often look for signed acceptance. It's a 'nice to have' rather than an essential however.
