No trains after 21:30 hours. Picked their time well to do that essential work.

My stomach's in knots already. Hoping the Macron ( why can't we call it New Burnden Park?) roar will be a weapon in our armoury. Rogers thinks we have a "beautiful" pitch and that it'll help them. Okay, Brendan, we'll see. Apparently our lads spent much of yesterday studying videos of Livepool's game (probably to avoid anybody else getting injured) . I have more confidence in N.L than the last four musketeers and I hope he can find an answer to what will be a Scouse onslaught. Our defence is about to be severely tested; hope we can do as well as last time.My next door neighbour plastic man and my Scouse born stepson in Yankee land won't be cheering for the Whites, but who cares? I will, so sod em.

Anything can happen. After all we once beat Chelsea in a cup final when we were underdogs.bristolwanderer wrote:Think we can grab a win tonight! Won't predict a result though

Was it the War Cup?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Yes. FA Cup was cancelled between 1939 and 1945. Instead the Football League War Cup was played. We won the last one in 1945 so are still the holders.Lord Kangana wrote:Was it the War Cup?

Ahhh - learn something new every day. It was a couple of decades before my time, but then again, no excuse really.Montreal Wanderer wrote:You, Worthy, our great historian?Worthy4England wrote:Go on then, I'll play. Won't predict a result thoughIt was a little before your time but Tango might remember... I'll post the answer later. I have to go and teach a class in religion and human rights (seriously) now.

I don't recall professing to being an historian though.

I was six at the time, so I'll plead extreme childhood memory syndrome on that one.Montreal Wanderer wrote:Yes. FA Cup was cancelled between 1939 and 1945. Instead the Football League War Cup was played. We won the last one in 1945 so are still the holders.Lord Kangana wrote:Was it the War Cup?

Big game for the boss, this. On the (proper) telly, against a big club, a great chance to really get some attention. Timing dictates that we've got half a side of new signings sitting watching, so he has to rally these tired old legs one more time. Luckily he'll have that new competition to inspire the incumbents - your place is under threat, but you've got the shirt tonight. I can't say I'm confident but, to use a fellow poster's username, I'm always hopeful. Come on you Trotters.
Re: Ding dong do.....Round 2
presumably because the new stadium sponsors are unhelpfully not called "New Burnden Park"TANGODANCER wrote:My stomach's in knots already. Hoping the Macron ( why can't we call it New Burnden Park?)

Re: Ding dong do.....Round 2
Apparently it's a set fee of £247,500 per broadcast for an FA Cup tie - including the replay. So we've made close to £500K with an incentive of another big pay day if we win tonight!
