Realistically, I went for 7th, but I always leave the door open for hope...

You'd say your base for a team in the playoffs was roughly 1/4. I'd back us a lot more than that if we got there from here.

Get to the play offs without injuries and I’d fancy us to win them. I’d be pretty confident.
I just think we won’t quite get there this time.
I think next season we should try and win this league as I feel we will have many ingredients in place. And I’d like to see a trophy before I die. And this is probably the most likely.

Sherpa Sh¡tshow next year? I'd say that's likelier than a league title. Interesting that it might be Rotherham-Wigan this year (but equally, could be Hartlepool-Sutton). I've said this two years on the trot, but I do think that Evatt would love a cup run, and it would help him cement his reputation.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 5:36 pmGet to the play offs without injuries and I’d fancy us to win them. We've had six promotions in my 35+ years as a fan, but in the club's history we've only ever won four league titles. One of them was while the Titanic was being built. Two of them were in the 70s and, possibly, spoiled a few people. The other one was Toddy's ton, and if I'd known it was that rare I'd have celebrated it even more

Re: Where will we finish?
If we somehow avoid going up this season (unforeseeable, I know) then yeah, we should be aiming to build a title-winning side over the summer.
That will be Evatt and Markham's aim. Doing it is another issue, but it's the only thing that will interest them. They will want to win the league and go on a proper cup run.

Went for 6th. I’ll be happy if it pans out and happy if it doesn’t after this seasons rollercoaster!

There's definitely a part of me that would rather stay down, strengthen and win the league.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 6:50 pmWent for 6th. I’ll be happy if it pans out and happy if it doesn’t after this seasons rollercoaster!

But obvz it's a risk. What if it costs us Dapo and Fossey (and possibly Trafford)?

We’ll find more/ replacements, just hopefully in summer this time. I think there’s a pretty big chance Dapo won’t be here next season regardless - lads numbers are phenomenal there is no way he isn’t on the radar of clubs who can offer more than us now.

We can win this league next year. So long as everyone stays levelheaded and focussed. You look at our strikers. You won’t get a better 4 strikers in this league.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 5:47 pmSherpa Sh¡tshow next year? I'd say that's likelier than a league title. So I’d say with confidence that if we keep this lot together. And make a few sensible additions or replacements we will have a real chance next year of being top. We lack Rotherham’s organisation and ruthlessness. But we have better forwards.

Re: Where will we finish?
Don’t get the desire to not get promoted. We’d get significantly more cash if we went up and would be able to put together a squad capable of staying in the Championship.

Re: Where will we finish?
In truth I probably also fear that division. We wouldn’t get that much more cash, especially compared to the rest of the division, which is overspending suicidally. We would either have to overstretch ourselves or face having one of the lowest budgets and doing a Wycombe/Rotherham and trying to stay afloat. A nice problem to have but IDK, I’d like a full year of niceness at this level. Maybe we can get Happy BWFCi in both halves of a season

Re: Where will we finish?
That will be easier said than done. The better we finish this season, the more our players will be in demand - not only Dapo.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 8:13 pm

The first job will be to hold on to what we have got - and like last summer turn loans into contracts.
Keeper will be tricky. We need the position sorted well before the season starts. It would be ideal to have another year of a developing Trafford, but would City commit to a season long loan early enough for us?

Sure but I think we might lose one but then reinvest that’s got to be the model. Financial and football.bw@bw wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 10:00 pmThat will be easier said than done. Re: Where will we finish?
I’d imagine we’d be very well placed to get Trafford on a season-long loan in the summer (not that I’m overly convinced he’s the best we can get at GK).bw@bw wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 10:00 pmThat will be easier said than done. He’s not making the City first team anytime soon and I don’t think any Championship clubs would come in for him as their No.1, so I’m sure City would be happy for him to continue developing here.

Re: Where will we finish?
Looks like we need 77-79 points to reach the playoffs. We’re on 48 so split the difference and call it 30 from 15 games. 2ppg - steep but doable. It’s 10 wins from 15. Pick your 10.
We have seven home games left, so winning all those would be a long way towards it, especially as we have three against potential promo rivals (Plymouth, Pompey, Wednesday). Six-pointers FTW.
We have six away games, and if we maximise home form we might (might) only have to win three of them. Handy, then, that we have yet to visit the bottom three - Crewe, Donny, Gills. Nobody will roll over for us but you have to hope, in a scenario where we might soon face Champo teams, that we could beat them.
With wins in the seven home games and those three low-hanging away fruits, we might (might) not even need to get many or any points from the other three away games. Nonetheless, I truly think we can win at MK, and Cheltenham should be safe by the time we play them on the second-last weekend. Wigan away looks annoyingly hard, but we might not need to win there.
Off to sleep now. I may already be dreaming. But ain’t that why we watch?

Re: Where will we finish?
Not all bad. My time has seen an F.A.Cup final loss in 53, an F.A.Cup final win in 58, (beating United)two great years in Europe the 70's and a load of ups and downs all round them.First club ever to beat Red Star Belgrade on their own turf, and Super Kev put the ball in the Bayern Munich net. Not bad ..?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 5:47 pm

Re: Where will we finish?
I went 8th. I think we've left too much to do, with too many good sides who will keep picking up points. Think we'll be a lot closer than we are now though, and in a great position to go again next year.
Looking for positives that might suit us. Go up now and we've got to retool again for another big jump. Another year of building and we might be set up to go and attack the championship.

10 wins from 13 is a tough ask
That would make it 16 from 21 - title winning form
